Chicago Sun-TimesRoger EbertIt is not a children's film and it is not an exploitation film; it is a disturbing and stylish attempt to collect some of the nightmares that lie beneath the surface of "Little Red Riding Hood."
Flipside Movie EmporiumRob VauxStrange and haunting, but unduly disjointed.
User ReviewVitor ALOVE this movie! It's my favorite twisted fairy tale ever! It's done so well (acting, writing, etc.) the special effects are totally forgivable.
User ReviewBarren YThe best fairytale film ever made. Propelled by tenuous nightmare logic and dark sexual undercurrents, as all good fairytales are.
User ReviewDavey MOne of my new favorite movies. An adaptation of Angela Carter's marvelous collection of stories that is strange, surreal, sexual, magical, hypnotic, horrifying, and, yeah, just all around amazing. One of the very, very, very, very, very, very best fairy tales put on film. Easily the coolest werewolf transformation I've seen. Visually amazing. Exquisitely written. Impeccably acted. This movie seriously deserves more love.
User ReviewJennifer SThis is an incredible film. Adapted from a short story written by the wonderfully imaginative Angela Carter. Is one of my all time favourites. A dream within a dream, tales of werewolves, sexuality, loss of innocence and keeping to the path in a delicously dark way that captivates and unnerves. Just wonderful...
User ReviewJoe AFairytale horror. Totally original. Best werewolf transformation ever (no CGI). Made me want to be a medieval werewolf!
User ReviewCorbin BA beautiful and extremely grim rendition of "Little Red Riding Hood." I completely did not realize that Angela Carter wrote the original story and the script! I will most definitely be reading that very soon! I love how it is very similar to a piece of Gothic literature!!!!! ^_^
User ReviewAlberto GAlegorica, cruel e hipnotica, la mejor de su director.
User ReviewSean MRich, lush, atmospheric. Neil Jordan pulled out all the cinematic stops on this one, but all the gorgeous sets and costumes and cinematography never get in the way of a brilliant retelling of the Little Red Riding Hood tale. The effects appear a bit dated in places, but are easily overlooked.
