This documentary combines recent interviews and old footage to provide a comprehensive view of The Clash, one of the world's most influential rock bands. Footage from old club shows and stadium concerts is intercut with interviews with band members Mick Jones, Paul Simonon, Topper Headon, and Joe Strummer. The Clash began as rebellious punks eager to combine their influences: Simonon leaned towards reggae, and Jones leaned toward harder-edged British rock, while Strummer favored American R&B. Despite various fights and conflicts, The Clash emerged as "the only band that mattered," a punk rock band which ventured beyond punk to create a unique and unforgettable sound. WESTWAY TO THE WORLD documents their beginnings, their rise to stardom, and their collapse.

User ReviewKaren HWonderful documentary about the Clash. Tons of interviews by ALL the key members of the group (this includes Terry Chimes), as well as tantalizing snippets of live footage from over the years. Where is the rest of the Bonds footage, for example? Excellent, excellent film. Great for fans and burgeoning fans. Makes me miss Joe and appreciate Mick all that much more.
User ReviewJonathan BWhat is really amazing about this is that Don Letts was filming them consistently from thier first rehearsal right up to thier last gig at Shea Stadium.
User ReviewAri TGreat doc about the greatest band that ever was!
User ReviewPaul WIncredibly moving film about the west London 4. Not just for Joe's regrets, but Mick's too. I found it a bit of a tearjerker.
User ReviewJon CGreat documentary on a great band. Never a corporate rock band they had genuine and radical energy
User ReviewDouglas DIt's great seeing clips of The Clash in action, but it's Joe's words of wisdom that really make this worthwhile. If you read some books on them, you'll find out he pretty much blamed himself for the break up in later years, and the regret he shows in this is heart-wrenching, even more so now he's gone.
