User Review - 10/10 by MEC ra very good film, but in some places very sad, which is typical of disney
User Review - 10/10 by kathy mThe young star looks an awful lot like Barret Oliver, although they do not list the child star's name in the credits -- A great story too!
User Review - 8/10 by Graeme JOne of my favorite childhood Christmas movies.
User Review - 6/10 by Jim Wgood christmas family movie with a disgusting happy jesus singing ending. the rest of the film was fine though. a criminal escapes from prison in a santa outfit and gets mistaken to be the real santa by kids in a poor neighbourhood. while he uses the kids to get a hold of some old loot from years before his conscience is beginning to get the better of him. so he saves the day of course.
User Review - 6/10 by Private UIf I used a Derridian play on a phrase, pas de thèse, to describe this movie, it is because this is a Derridian Christmas Star that shines more than any other. There is a logic within the script that can enact certain structures that one finds characteristic of Derrida's work--particularly his work on Hegel. The auto-affection or running in place of the continual repetitiveness in The Christmas Star might be a form of Derridian dialectic. I think at least trying to pair the two in an effort to show why exactly (in a Freudian way, similar to his book on jokes) The Christmas Star is absolutely hilarious can indeed illustrate the general tenor of certain things he gets at. This all revolves around the simple question of how we could actually get a new Christmas movie each year, given the fact that in each movie, a lot of it of it is watching previous movies!
User Review - 6/10 by Lafe FGreat Christmas film where fuzzy-faced Ed Asner escapes from prison by stealing a Santa costume, and then is mistaken for the real Santa Claus by a group of kids. He enlists their help to find the cash his dead partner stashed away after a robbery. Ed turns from a crusty criminal to a warm-hearted man, whilst helping the kids with some of their problems. A story of redemption, done with a bit of humour.
