Ozus' World Movie ReviewsDennis SchwartzCynical satire on Hollywood has no punch, just a lot of inane jabs.
Creative LoafingMatt BrunsonBlake Edwards' outrageous S.O.B. may never be held in the same regard as Sunset Boulevard or The Player, but as a searing satire about the underbelly of the Hollywood lifestyle, it still ranks as one of the best.
Austin ChronicleMarjorie BaumgartenWhat I regard as Edwards' crowning achievement. It is a wickedly funny, impeccably cast, ingeniously subversive satire of the Hollywood film industry.
New York TimesVincent CanbyIt's a nasty, biased, self-serving movie that also happens to be hilarious most of the time.
User ReviewMargaret OMost people will find this movie a bore. It's really made for filmmakers. This is really the only Blake Edwards movie I like. (Well, "Skin Deep" was ok...)
User ReviewChristopher BFrom the first half of a killer double feature I caught at Lincoln Center tonight comes the best Hollywood satire in widescreen courtesy of comedy master Blake Edwards with a big cast, which is best to see on a big screen and does itself a justice by listing none of the actors at the start so the audience can be surprised to see which faces pop up. Great performances and set pieces make for a Hollywood tale that is still relevant today and always will be. Proof positive that sometimes misunderstood movies of one time can become classics later on given enough shifting and appreciation which this film has earned throughout the years. I loved it the first time I had seen it, and getting to see it on the big screen has made me forever a fan and appreciator of this comic diamond in the rough.
User ReviewBubba MIncredible movie! Incredibly Hilarious and different. A side of Jules we never saw before, but lucky to had the chance!!
User ReviewBill RDeliriously funny, mordant, and cynical. The late Richard Mulligan is one of the funniest American comic actors of all time.
User ReviewCraig CA stone cold masterpiece best known for wife Julie Andrews' topless scene, this features William Holden in his last role and Rosanna Arquette in a walk-on one year before Toto's song about her hit the charts. Essential.
User ReviewKelly YBlake Edward at his cynical best in this one. Perfect cast.
