What's more, the former bride (Vivian) becomes a fearfully revengeful lover who is relentless in her quest to get her ex-fiancé back. Crisp dialogue and fierce confrontation scenes make The Bride and The Lover a highly-charged erotic-drama worth watching. The movie tries to answer tough questions such as: Will you put friendship at stake for the love of a man? Is friendship a strong foundation for serious relationships?

| User ReviewIan PThis film already has a good premise to present and taking a cue from its title, it obviously promises an intriguing movie about relationship, infidelity and lies. Jennylyn Mercado and Lovie Poe gave strong performances to their character in this film. Even Paulo Avelino gave a notable act whilst there are moments that he seems detached to his character. All good performance wasted when the film reaches the climactic cheap girl cat-fight scene. I felt it drag down the quality of the movie bigtime. For sure, when stories is about lover snatcher and secret affairs there are confrontation and cat-fights in real life but not exaggerated as shown in The Bride and The Lover. It was actually unnecessary in the story because it is ironic since characters which were rich, professional individuals and career woman as depicted in the film resolves a relationship problem thru a barbaric fight which uneducated person would only do. And how did it end? A cat-fight ended with characters laughing at each other. It was awkward and it was funny at the same time? How will take that ending climax when it is billed as a serious drama movie? The Bride and The Lover has a potential to join the ranks of great Filipino drama movies but its attempt is an epic fail because it was overall unpolished film. |
