Kalamazoo GazetteJames SanfordAbsolutely hilarious; Woods and Young all but claw the screen -- and each other
User ReviewVicky DCocaine DON'T DO IT is the message of this film. What I really like is to watch Woods become slowly unhinged, the tension mounts as he just seems about to crack at any moment. Simple story 'upwardly mobile man discovers coke and then it goes pear shaped but it's woods himself that makes this worth watching. Great actor.
User ReviewDanny DThis is a must see!James Woods and Sean Young are incredible. You gotta love Wood's portrayal of a normal guy descending into a world of total crap.Very disturbing, but cool at the same time.
User ReviewMatthew MI watched this movie because I enjoy both James Woods and Sean Young. I had no idea what exactly the film was about and it turned out to be a drama about drug addiction. However it was different in that it showed more of the beginning of life before drugs. I was waiting for them to become addicted however it was not a full fall into the drug scene as what usual movies do. I mean it shows what happens but it does not really exploit it. Instead it shows what might actually happen in a more realistic way. More of a story about what would happen but not to the point of utter ridiculous. It is a sad film with not a very happy ending. I felt that the acting made the film a lot better and the unusual approach in telling the story. Overall, it is a different film about drugs and it is well acted.
User ReviewCarlyne Therese Ba very interesting story about a couple that had beautiful dreams, all shattered when the man started using cocaine. You'll learn a lot from this movie.
User ReviewDr. AOverlooked film... but isn't it that the story most of the time with intelligent film? Sean Young and James Woods will scare the shit out of you and make you think twice on how easy and gradual loss of self can take over. It's a shame James Woods is doing the TV series Shark... he's selling himself short.
User ReviewGeoff JJAMES WOODS! I understand Sonic Youth's obsession with this movie now. Over-the-top to match even "Corvette Summer." James Woods made me feel awkward. Really awkward.
User ReviewStevie WJames Woods at his best in his younger days.Watch what happens when Woods gets a taste of the yuppie life...then he hits the cocaine like it was the "allem in his kebab!" If you ain't addicted to cocaine, you just might be after watching this one. *This film is old and might not be available anymore.
User ReviewAndre DUna muy buena pelicula con dos actuaciones de lujo por parte de James Woods y Sean Young como una pareja que se hunde en el abismo de la cocaina. Piense en "The Boost" como en el "Requiem for A Dream" de los 80.
User ReviewMike BUnsettling. In the right movie, James Woods is the MAN.
