User Review - 6/10 by Kevin M. WIt wasn't the greatest movie out there but I was nice to see the story especially when the old man in the end is King David's grandfather telling him the story of his ancestors.
User Review - 6/10 by Ivy POne of my favorite romance from the Bible. Loved the twist they put on the story being told to a young boy.
User Review - 6/10 by Paula KThe Book of Ruth made into a motion picture - so-so acting, beautiful scenery, great message of faith.

User Review - 4/10 by James TA good story, but poorly executed. It's a film adaptation. A film adaptation retells a story, but adjusts it to the media. This film does not truly take advantage of the medium of film. Also, it did not seem to do much to interpret. The frame story tried to bring about a lesson, but it was more of a simple sudnay school lesson that was somewhat related to the story, instead of the deep themes that run through the story. The setting did not feel like Israel. The acting was not just terrible, it was intollerable. It seemed more like one of those poorly acted skits where someone dressed like the bible character. Very over dramatic. I can forgive the poor production values. After all, it was made on a shoestring budget.
User Review - 4/10 by Katrina WOk so the two stars are for sticking to the Bible pretty much....would actually give it higher for that as it did keep to the story well but what let it down was the poor acting and TERRIBLE props and styling. Naomi looked so American with her blowdried poofed out fringe and shiny pink lipgloss and perfect fine thread wrap and clothing. There is a scene in a marketplace and it just was not realistic. It looked like someone had raided the church dress up closet or bought costumes brand new from a dress up place as it was all very white and clean (you cant get whites that clean in those times!). Ruth had her hair curled in a hairdresser - just lots of important details in keeping with the times. Nothing in that movie looked used or old or earthen as would have been the case. Even their home looked like a perfect new prop. One of the elders came out in what looked like a baby pink pillowcase on his head - probably was! And pink?? What were they thinking? You would never find that like that in those times! Got bored and watched it on and off while doing other things. I guess it had to be drawn out as there's not much to that story in the Bible anyway.
