User ReviewTuomas SThe most brilliant nightmare David Lynch ever cooked up.
User ReviewLafe FEarly Lynch short film. While it fascinated me I can't put my finger on what it may mean on any level. I guess it's the fabric that nightmares are made of. Still, I really appreciate the filmic surrealism and possibly dadaism depicted here through wonderfully weird and disturbing visuals that will definitely stay with you. It really needs to be put in the concept of being a completely handmade film to be fully appreciated. This stuff wouldn't be half as intriguing if it was made yesterday by a digital graphics artist. In conclussion, a nightmare painting of a film.

User ReviewKenneth SAh, THE ALPHABET. I love this short film from David Lynch. The only way to describe it would be the way David Lynch himself puts it in his introduction on the above pictured DVD. This film, is, simply, David Lynch's imaginings of a nightmare his ex-wife's neice had, in which she had to say the alphabet over and over. Other than that initial idea, this film is all Lynch. Disturbing and creepy as hell, THE ALPHABET is, quite possibly, one of my all-time favourite films!
User ReviewEric RReally great stuff. The last 45 seconds of this film are incredible
User ReviewRebecca NSo many moments in these short films feel like other lynch films. not just a similar atmosphere but they feel similar overall, as if transported. Worth seeing. [dvd 07-2008, "the short films of david lynch"]
User ReviewSteven ROne of Lynch's creepiest shorts. Watch it and you'll see what I mean. Only for fans of David Lynch.
User ReviewJason KFlixster has split up all the short films on this DVD. I'm not going through 'em all. Was gonna rewatch Eraserhead with a friend tonight but the DVD let us down so we settled for this. I hadn't seen Lynch's shorts for some time. The Alphabet made an even larger impression on me this time while my fragmented memory of The Grandmother was better than the actual film as a whole. I really wish he'd made more in the style of The Alphabet, which has to be one of my most favoritest short films ever.
