VarietyBrian LowryWorking a bit too hard to send the crowd into a frenzy, the action in this basketball-oriented yarn isn't exactly fantastic, but it is mildly entertaining.
Empire MagazineJane StefanskiHowever average it is, it still passes an hour and a half.
Deseret News (Salt Lake City)Chris HicksIf you've never seen a movie, you may be surprised as the story goes into two specific directions, the big basketball game finale and the change in Bacon's attitude as he learns there are things more important in life than his own success.
New York TimesJanet MaslinChildren may find this funny, but the film isn't geared to very young audiences. It includes much more violence and profanity than its PG rating indicates.
Washington PostDesson ThomsonLike the multitude of Disney visitors to Africa before (and after) him, he must learn to respect the noble savages he wishes to exploit. Saleh and his Winabis are not for sale -- at least, not immediately.
User ReviewTheScarlatescu RI've seen this movie in 1995 or 1996 and I was little and I liked K Bacon and I so liked the movie's subject
User ReviewVivian%20 JSo Kevin bacon is an amazing actor. He does really well in this movie. My only complaint is the bad acting of the people in the tribes etc. I know they couldn't really go out and find a bunch of amazing actors with Africa can accents though. The concept of this movie is also very cool as well.
