His partner in the project was recently found dead in the desert, suffering from a disease that normally takes years to advance, but, in his case, seems to have afflicted him in only a few days. The local doctor, Matt Hastings (John Agar), is puzzled by the strange case and, with Deemer's recently arrived (and very pretty) assistant, Stephanie "Steve" Clayton (Mara Corday), tries to figure out what is going on. When cattle remains are found in the countryside, evidence points to a giant tarantula as the culprit.

User ReviewChantal LLow budget, but great effects, a nice story and Clint Eastwood's first role (he's a bomber pilot). One of my favorite movies ever.
User ReviewTerry WA classic in the Science Fiction genre, and one of the greatest pre-Star Wars Science Fiction films of all time. The special effects are astounding!
User ReviewMichael CA better than average 1950s monster movie .. if you were into this type of thing it's worth watching ... A lot of from familiar actors from this time period ... Leo G Carol gives a good performance ...
User ReviewAl HThis film is just too good! Since I really enjoyed " THEM! ", this movie appealed to me even more. It may have something to do with the fact that they did not use a puppet spider... well throughout most of the film at least. Also the cast was great as they were in most films back in the day. This has to be one of my favourites.
User ReviewAaron CThe single greatest giant anything movie! It mixes realistic effects with kooky anamatronics in such a way that just can't be done nowadays. A true classic.
