Married London couple Ellie and Alvin have seen the lust fade from their marriage several years after their wedding. They act more like friends than husband and wife. They have little in common; she is a clothing designer, eager to conquer the fashion world and make a name for herself, while he seems content with being with his friends and maintaining a low profile in his office. She is also willing to try new things in their sex life, including bringing in new partners, while he is comfortable with keeping their physical relationship low-key. After their friend Peter admits that he cheated on his wife Janet, they are determined to spice up their marriage and re-ignite the sparks they once felt towards each other. After debating what they can do to save their marriage, Ellie suggests that they "swing," and have consensual affairs. They find the ideal couple, Richard and Clementine, who have similar interests and the same marital problems as them. After their night with them, they debate whether or not swinging actually helped revive their relationship.

eFilmCritic.comPeter SobczynskiImagine the world's longest, lamest and smuttiest episode of the redoubtable TV classic "Love, American Style" and you have only begun to conceptualize the mind and genital-numbing horror that is "Swinging with the Finkels."
Flick FilosopherMaryAnn Johanson[E]xcruciatingly wrongheaded and outdated... [T]reats women like mysterious creatures from the depths of the Victorian age and marriage like an extended standup routine from the 1970s...
Film Journal InternationalEric MonderLikeable leads can't save this dreary sex comedy.
Aisle SeatMike McGranaghanI'm right down the middle on this one. It's not great, but it's not terrible either.
We Got This CoveredKaren BenardelloThe film features one-dimensional, married characters who lack distinctive personalities, and fails to include a backstory that proves they ever had any chemistry together.
NY1-TVNeil RosenI'm shocked that this movie, which opens next week, even got a theatrical release and didn't go straight to DVD. Even more amazing is that it got made in the first place.
Slant MagazineDiego SemereneMarriage, in the film, is the necessary evil we all must figure out how to endure in order to be happy or, at least, feel normal.
VarietyLeslie FelperinA contempo contribution to the august British tradition of lame, unfunny sex comedies.
News of the WorldRobbie CollinYou wouldn't wish the supporting cast on a film made by your worst enemy. They include the dad from the sixth Beethoven movie (yeah - somehow they got him), Angus Deayton with his bum hanging out, the mummified remains of Jerry Stiller.
Radio TimesDavid AldridgeDear, oh dear - there should be a law banning British directors from making so-called sex comedies.
