EmpireKim NewmanSuper sexy, silly Meyer fun where he takes his own self-styled genre to its heights/depths.
The New York TimesVincent CanbyIt's full of the old Meyer preoccupations — insatiable women, impotent men, lonely desert landscapes in which the promise of sex is the only reliable compass. Yet something has been lost. Could it be innocence?
Chicago ReaderDave KehrThis is really less fun than the more baroque Meyer outings, such as Up!, Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, and Beneath the Valley of the Ultravixens—perhaps because too much routine violence and nastiness keeps getting in the way.
User ReviewHarry WClassic Sexploitation. Either you get it or never will. Russ Meyer had a vision and it's perfectly executed,
User Reviewgary aTrashy and sublime a Freaky acid trip from Russ Meyers and some of the best lines uttered in B-movie cinema ever...
User Reviewtanya hlove this film its such a cheesey classic
User ReviewPrivate ULooks like it's time for bust lust with Russ! This is a delightful romp, a feel-good comedy that features one of the most brutal slasher scenes in cinematic history. Hitchcock expressed admiration for the scene in which Charles Napier, embarassed by his impotence with Shari Eubank, stabs her about fifty times into a bloody mess in the bathtub. How many lives Viagra might have saved had it come on the market earlier! Stupid lazy scientists! Napier later got his just desserts when he was disembowelled by Hannibal Lecter in Silence of the Lambs. Anyway, lots of entertaining scenes, lots of the trademark big bazooms, not quite as amazingly perfect as Meyer's two masterpieces but for me this is in a solid third place in his ouevre. Special mention should be made of Shari Eubank, who plays two equal and opposite parts equally well, the bitchy Angel and the sweet Vixen.
User ReviewKelly EI give it 5 Stars partly for sentimental reasons but mostly because it is so much fun. I was horrified when I saw brief clips (feminist anger rising), but watching the whole thing sucks you right in. At the end it really is a beautful love story - OK so not so much - but mucho enjoyable and ridiculous. Full of bad and quotable lines.
User ReviewMichael PIt will always hold a special place in my heart, thanks to a great group of friends and a crazy night. Candide meets Russ Meyer. Yummy...
User ReviewDean RI'll be honest, it's a Russ Meyer film so any review I give is pointless. Just know that you're in for boobs and violence. I can't imagine anyone not liking this, and if you're someone who doesn't, I don't want to know you.
