MediaMikesMichael A. SmithA cross between "Meatballs" and "Stand by Me," "Age of Summerhood" makes great use of its outdoor locations to show kids as they are rarely portrayed on screen: as kids.
Toronto StarPeter HowellOn the plus side, he seems to have documented every single thing that happened to him. On the negative side, none of it was terribly exciting.
Globe and MailJennie PunterDespite its shortcomings, Summerhood is an earnest effort from a first-time director who clearly enjoys stoking and poking at his campfire memories.
Jam! MoviesLiz BraunThe movie has none of the awkwardness or clunky moments you might expect from a low-budget first feature.
eye WEEKLYAdam NaymanLet the record show that it's better than Hot Tub Time Machine, though that's not much of a compliment.
User ReviewShauna NLove this film. Funny, amazing soundtrack, and beautifully shot.
User ReviewSara HBy far my favourite film at the AFF. Takes you back to your childhood in a way few films about that time period are able to. I loved every minute of it, funny and sweet in equal measures, the actors and music totally made the movie. I hope this gets released so everyone has a chance to experience it!
User ReviewAndrea Cthe kids....the counselors...the soundtrack. ..too funny..Loved it!! you need to see this movie
User ReviewJennifer LCIFF release, Loved this movie, such a good time.
User ReviewBradford MLike :Stand By Me" without the dead body. About a bunch of ten year olds @ summer camp, trying to become legends at the camp, by accomplishing the impossible feat; and then the love interest enters the picture. There were a couple of scenes I was doubled over in laughter. It was crude,, rude, funny and heartbreaking, everything that summer camp and being 10 is all about.
