User Review - 10/10 by Guy MA great documentary; tells the story simply, accurately, and brilliantly.
User Review - 10/10 by Brendan OExtraordinary documentary. A must see - even if you have no interest in cycling.
User Review - 10/10 by Evan Mchilling... infuriating.. and harrowing.. a broken system within a broken sport. excellent film
User Review - 10/10 by Alfonso MAnother incredible sprorting documentary on a sport i care little for. As the story progresses, so does the viewer's senses highten at the way Armstrong responds to repeated acusations of his cheating. The movie almost represents a sprint race as it's told. It's tense and explodes into high speed. Armstrong comes across as a pretty bad person, which is probably the intention of the director. The fact that he attacked so many people that questioned his cleanliness, and his methods of defending his lies appear despicable when viewing now. Glad i didnt get on no Armstrong band wagon. And i'm glad i never bought and read his book of lies. The publisher of such a fake book should reinburse anybody that has bought a copy...... shouldn't they??
User Review - 10/10 by James LA more informative account of the story but lacks the insight that Armstrong himself lends to Gibney's documentary.
User Review - 8/10 by Chris MAs a longtime fan of pro-cycling and previously a Lance Armstrong believer, I've had to reassess everything since the spate of confessions in recent years. When I first read "It's not about the bike" I was struck by how focused and partial his storytelling was. Armstrong kept a near psychopathic control over his own narrative, and Alex Holmes' excellent film brings this to life with compelling clarity. Perhaps its best aspect is how it makes no apology for showing us how great Armstrong was before his cancer, how driven he was as a neo-pro young rider. He was not 'made' by his cancer, he was already there, mostly fully formed. But his cancer both fuelled and enabled his resurrection and ascension to an exalted position where he was able to look the world in the eye and lie without any self-doubt. This is a strongly-told tale. It's more than a little depressing and even scary, and definitely worth your time, even if you're not a sports fan. Like SENNA, it's a brilliant piece of human drama.
User Review - 8/10 by Judge LChilling portrait of someone willing to do anything, and screw over anyone, for money.
User Review - 8/10 by Iain GNot really a Lance Armstrong biopic, more a film that looks at the eagerness - and indeed willingness - to create an icon, put them on a pedestal and the lengths people will go to to keep them there. A very well paced documentary that doesn't ask you to be a cycling, or indeed Lance Armstrong fan to enjoy it.
User Review - 8/10 by Colleen PA much better edited version of the Armstrong Lie.
User Review - 8/10 by Jonathan GI would say this is definitely above average as far as documentaries go although it still does not help me understand Armstrong's motives. In its defense, it does attempt to go out of its way to be as reasonably balanced as possible. I never realized the major tipping point was the testimony involving what he said right before he was about to have brain surgery. True - when you are about to go under the knife for serious surgery, you do not lie . . . you do not withhold information . . . from your anesthesiologist.
