"Stark Fear" is the story of Ellen Winslow, who hungers for affection but finds herself chained to a hate-warped husband Gerald. Ellen gets a job, which is more than George seems to be able to do, but he disappears in a jealous rage, but Ellen's sense of loyalty and duty won't let her abandon him, so she goes looking for him in his home town. Gerald attacks her anew, and she is subjected to painful humiliation and abuse by Gerald's best friend, lecherous old Harvey Suggett, at a Comanche tribal dance. The hidden Gerald watches with sadistic delight. Ellen buries herself in her work, to forget her anguish, and falls in love with her employer, Cliff Kane, and they both take a business weekend at the "Little Switzerland" resort in Arkansas. Ellen tells Gerald that he is too emotionally warped for marriage and divorces him, and to prove she is wrong he tries to kill her.

| User ReviewAj VThis is one of my favourite Beverly Garland films. Once you've seen this woman's abusive relationship with her husband, your own life doesn't seem so bad. It's really extremely dramatic and violent too. I really liked this movie, it's good. |
| User ReviewBruce BThe only real good thing about this movie was that it was less then 90 Minutes Long. Part of a Grindhouse Double Shock Show from Alpha Video. Beverly garland plays the abused wife who has nothing but fear for her husband, who from the start of the movie slaps her around and beats her. She has to give up her job because of her jealous husband. Her husband has many of his own secrets, lovers, the town he's really from, and his friends. After he has one of his friends rape his wife while he watches, she?s had enough and goes back to work and falls in love with her boss, who is her husbands rival. In the end, rapist is killed, Husband disappears, and Boss and his now to be future wife fly off to Mexico. Filmed in 1962, most of the theme of this movie wouldn't be on the big screen today. I'm being nice by giving this one 2 stars |
