Later, an ardent Brahmin scholar called Vishnudatta is tested multiple times by Datta and then given the great upadesham (divine initiation) A king by name Kartaveeryarjuna is born with a birth defect and worships Datta. Again tested he is bestowed with all powers. Later kartaveerya develops lot of ego and is hence controlled by Parashurama. Parashurama's father Jamadagni is killed by Kartaveerya's sons in retaliation. Then Parashurama kills all kings that do not rule by Dharma and goes to the rescue of Dattatreya. Datta bestows divine knowledge upon him.
