User ReviewMatt KIncredible film. Powerful and fairly realistic. You'll love it. Very well acted, written, and directed.
User ReviewAtaahua WThis film was realistic for the era it showed. Very intense and powerful movie. The acting was superb from Bruno Lawerance and the then young Greer Robson.
User ReviewCJ CAmazing performance from Bruno Lawrence as he is torn between the lifestyle of balancing a career racing cars and running the car wreckers yard that he inherited whilst losing custody of his daughter wen his wife leaves him for his best friend. Emotionally charged
User ReviewPamela DThis is a real gem of a hard to find, arcane and unusual character study. I appreciate it more the older I get. One of the more interesting and forgotten films to come out of New Zealand. The car wrecking yard Smash Palace still exists today, and is located in Horopito, near Ohakune.
User ReviewJeff MSuperb Kiwi family relationship flick. Extremely well acted, written and directed and a super soundtrack from Sharon O'Neill.
User ReviewIan RGreat movie from the same year that Mad Max first hit the screens
User ReviewHamish S4 stars for this + "Sleeping Dogs" which is shamefully missing from Flixster
User ReviewStephen SThis can be a very difficult film to locate, but I found it in a two-fer package with director Donaldson's first film "Sleeping Dogs". Like his role in "The Quiet Earth", Bruno Lawrence plays his role fearlessly and without reservation. The direction is brilliant and the story is quite intense. The ending doesn't quite work as well as it should, but is effective nonetheless. Great New Zealand film - recommeneded.
