AfterElton.comAlonso DuraldeWhile we're used to seeing movies about young men and women leaving their hometowns behind to live their lives openly in a big city, Gay Bar shows us the people who have decided to stay in their hometowns but still stake out the life that they choo
VarietyDavid RooneyIngram illustrates how gay bars function as oases of acceptance and alternative families for his good-humored, enduring subjects.
User ReviewRoss MFascinating. Makes me incredibly happy that I live in a metro area, cause I don't know how those people do it. Oh, and Fred Phelps is in this and is a total pube.
User Reviewirene cexcellent documentary about gay bars in small towns down the mississippi, alabama area. it is so sad that gay people can not the same rights as heterosexual peers. it also reflexts upon several gay attacks that happen in the south in the last few years.

User ReviewJulie Mbeautifully moving look at how gay bars in the south create healthy community
User ReviewGraham BIn a mostly accepting society, this is a film that brings on the reality of others. Made me feel incredibly lucky for the place I live and incredibly proud of the people involved in the film.
User ReviewMaxi VTitle says it all, watch and learn how it is to be different in the good old Bible belt.
User ReviewMark CIt is amazing the ignorance in the country that claims to be "Land of the FREE and Home of the BRAVE" this does not just apply to our military buy to everybody! Gays are free as are the rest of us. Free to make our own choices, live life the we want, and love WHOEVER we want. Talk about brave?! They gays are just as brave as our troops that serve this country. Think about how hard it is to be gay in a society that does not yet fully accept it. So BRAVE to overcome the fear of telling your family and living everyday of your life scared you could be another statistic of a hate crime. This is NOT 1880 people!!!! This is the year 2012! It is time this country and its people grow up and learn from histories mistakes.
User ReviewAmanda HI really enjoyed this film. It both interested me and occasionally made me angry, but ultimately it left me simply impressed. The people are articulate and intelligent (with the exception of the Westboro Baptist Church morons) and this was extremely well produced.
