In a farmhouse near a corn field where Ellison Oswait lived, the boy Dylan has nightmares and is visited by ghostly children led by the boy Milo. Dylan lives with his mother Courtney Collins, who has just left her abusive husband, and his brother Zach and is forced by the ghosts to go to the basement to watch home films in Super 8 of families being slaughtered. Ex-Deputy So & So is investigating the crime spree of Bughuul and burning down the houses where the deceased families lived to protect other families. He travels to the farmhouse and finds Courtney and her sons living there. He tells that he is a private investigator and he protects her against a bluff of her ex-husband to keep the children with him. Then he begins a love affair with Courtney. Meanwhile Dylan tells to the ghosts that he will not see any video again but Zach, who is the real choice of the ghosts, replaces him. When their father succeeds in getting a court order to have the custody of the children, Courtney is forced to go with the children. What will happen to the Collins family?

Movie Reviews

AV Club - 9/10 by Keith UhlichNot a moment of Sinister 2 is convincing or frightening.
Assignment X - 8/10 by Abbie BernsteinSinister 2 doesn't rise to the level of classic, but it is an effective continuation of the original, spooky enough to rank as a very decent horror outing.
Movie Chambers - 8/10 by Paul Chambers"Sinister 2" depends greatly on cheap scares.
The MacGuffin - 8/10 by Brooke CorsoBy the tortured end (for the viewer), we are left with the inquietude of another sequel coming. From the mouth of madness, we know this story won't end.
The Hollywood Outsider - 7/10 by Aaron PetersonSinister 2 is a definite improvement on the first film, enriching the narrative with a heavier emphasis on mood and expanding the universe as a whole.
One Guy's Opinion - 7/10 by Frank SwietekYet another chintzy exploitation potboiler from Jason Blum's horror shingle...poorly conceived and ineptly executed.
Film School Rejects - 7/10 by Rob HunterI'd wonder if the writers even bothered to watch the original film if I didn't know they actually wrote that one too.
Variety - 7/10 by Andrew BarkerA retread of such brainless, shameless lameness that it’s hard to imagine anyone begging for another installment.
La Nación (Argentina) - 6/10 by Fernando LopezFamiliar settings, cliches and jumpscares, theres very little imagination put into it and even less subtelty. [Full review in Spanish]
London Evening Standard - 6/10 by Charlotte O'SullivanLike Roger Corman's The Pit and the Pendulum, Sinister 2 cheerfully tries to make sense of where sadism springs from.
