User ReviewShail GI love this, this is as close as i can get of watching my culture put on screen, but I am malaysian, and this movie is about singapore, still there are many moments in the movie that rhymes so close to being a malaysian. Again, love this, such a poignant and brilliant movie.
User ReviewBret COne of the best Singaporean movies ever. It accurately reflects the degree of materialism that is indulging our lifestyle. It's a brutally honest film that left me emotionally drained and depressed after watching it.
User ReviewDoug SA good hearted soul introduced me to this movie. :-)
User ReviewAmna PA very good dramatic movie about an average Singaporean family whose members are each struggling to achieve their own dreams: the father who plays the lottery in hopes of one day moving from an HBD (government-subsidized 'Housing Development Board') flat to a luxury country club condo; the 'screw-up' son back from college abroad trying to make it big and prove his worth to his father; the dutiful daughter, always 'second fiddle' to her brother, seeking the parental recognition she deserves; the son-in-law, having left the Singaporean army (SAF) and with a baby on the way, struggling to find a career; the live-in future daughter-in-law anticipating the realization of her dream to marrying and start a family with the returning graduate. With great cinematography backed by a moving musical score that captures snapshots of daily life and aspects of the local cultural combined with first-rate direction and performances, this film is sure to not only entertain but also convey the essence of Singapore to the viewer. If you have ever visited or lived in the 'Lion City', Singapore Dreaming will no doubt bring back fond memories.
User ReviewDerrick SVery realistic to the life of Singaporeans. Probably the best Singaporean movie I have seen (if that means anything to you!)
User ReviewRahel PThe movie was so much better than I had expected...
User Reviewlogo 3A film of an atypical dysfunctional Singaporean family - I have to admit you hear these stories here and there, but lumping them all into one family is a little hard to swallow. Nevertheless, a good movie and well brought out. Kudos to Colin and Yen Yen!
User ReviewAaron WJack Neo who? This is so much better than whatever Manglish titles Raintree Films can come up with. Jack Neo is successful 'cos he has the money.
User ReviewSarah FIt's a real meaningful movir, do watch it with ur heart... I really think that some of the singaporean's are like that..
