Full Plot Details

Against the backdrop of modern urban alienation in bustling Buenos Aires, two perfect strangers who live across the street in their shoebox apartments--the agoraphobic web designer, Martín, and the disenchanted architect, Mariana--find themselves trapped in a sea of nearly three million inhabitants. To make matters worse, even though they live on the same street, swim in the same pool, and walk side by side, those two sensitive long-time loners have never met. But, somehow, the high and impenetrable wall that keeps them apart, may be the very thing that can bring them together. Will Mariana and Martín ever find out that they are, indeed, kindred spirits?

This little film is a perfect slice of foreign indie; set in Buenos Aires the film follows to yet to meet lovers who are perfect for each other (maybe a bit too perfect) but through happenstance and luck don't find each other until right at the end of the film. FOr some reason I misread a short review of the film and told my wife half way through that there would be no happy ending. So when the happy ending did come along it was all the sweeter. Mariana is a beautiful insecure woman living alone and trying to make her way as an architect. Martin is a website designer with his own set of neurocracies and problems, who has strong opinions on the architecture of BA. At its heart its a bit kooky and quirky but every scene is done with a great deal of care and attention, every step in the story is there for a reason and the film is perfect at 90 minutes long. I couldnt ask for more from a rom com without much com or in fact rom. Best scene : Martin's appartment window opening into a mans pair of boxers on a CK advert.
