MovieMartyr.comJeremy HeilmanShow People is a classic of its type, certainly more entertaining than The Artist, which recycled the same material to considerably diminished effect.
Ozus' World Movie ReviewsDennis SchwartzWhat might have been hysterical back in the day, today seems passably cutesy comedy.
User ReviewChad MI'm a suck for movies about Hollywood, and this is one that I can't get enough. Marion Davies does her perfect blend of comedy and drama and she steals my heart every damn time.
User ReviewKim KLovely. Very romantic. Cute comedy. Good thing it's silent because I'd probably grow to hate this movie if I actually heard the actors' voices, as I do with real theater people I come in contact with. It's a terrible shame the movie's out of print.
User ReviewAngela PI absolutely love Marion Davies. Very funny movie, one of my favorite movies about the film industry. It ranks up there with Sunset Boulevard and Singin' in the Rain. It has some of my favorite scenes of the whole silent film era.
User ReviewJustin Manother great king vidor feature and some fantastic mimicry/comedy by the delightful marion davies. there are some early hollywood cameos and some very humorous satire if you enjoy can understand the references
User ReviewDavid LThe film is more cute than funny now, but it's a wonderful time capsule of an era right before it was completely over. Marion Davies's performance is superb. It certainly anticipates Lucille Ball's "Lucy" in facial expressions. There's some cool cameo appearances from the likes of Chaplin, Fairbanks, Gilbert, Hart, and Vidor himself too.
User ReviewKalyn GWhy has no one said anything about this one? It's awesome.
User ReviewSamantha PAmusing. Marion Davies is great. Yay for TCM for playing some silent films.
User ReviewChristine GVery cute silent comedy. I never saw any Marion Davies' films before but I can see why she was famous in her day. There's a scene where you can even see Mr Charlie Chaplin asking her character for an autograph.
