Movie Reviews

AV Club - 9/10 by Ignatiy VishnevetskyThat the comedy is second-rate is a given. But at least it’s brisk, inoffensive, and devoid of human mugging, with Arnett breezing through like a pro.
Boston Herald - 8/10 by Stephen SchaeferDirector Raja Gosnell has been here before with "Beverly Hills Chihuahua" and "Scooby-Doo.'' He knows the value of being wittily self-referential and self-aware.
Hollywood Reporter - 8/10 by Michael RechtshaffenAnd thanks to some creative character casting and a self-aware script that isn't averse to poking fun at itself, Show Dogs emerges as a high-concept family comedy that manages to avoid being taken for the runt of the litter, even if it doesn't really bring anything fresh and different to the arena.
Arkansas Democrat-Gazette - 8/10 by Dan LybargerWith nothing in its supper dish but eye candy, Show Dogs alienates any viewer who wants something more than talking hounds.
New York Times - 8/10 by Teo BugbeeIf Show Dogs sometimes betrays its shaggy charms, there is comfort in remembering that many movies are much dumber than this one, and so few of them have either the good taste or the good manners to compensate with puppies.
Variety - 8/10 by Nick SchagerThink of it as “Miss Congeniality” for dogs, replete with the sort of slapstick humor, puerile gags and for-adults-only pop-culture references required of such endeavors. Its frantic pace should make it a mildly amusing diversion for the younger set, but its juvenile imagination (or lack thereof) is likely to drive anyone over the age of 7 barking mad.
Las Vegas Review-Journal - 8/10 by Christopher Lawrence"With jokes like that," Phillipe warns, "you will not make many friends." With jokes like that, neither will "Show Dogs."
Shadows on the Wall - 6/10 by Rich ClineIf the filmmakers had taken an even slightly sophisticated approach, this wacky movie might have been a minor classic.
Daily Express (UK) - 6/10 by Andy LeaStanley Tucci's wonderfully camp voice performance should make adults sit up and stay.
Screen It! - 6/10 by Jim JudyHowlingly bad and ill-suited for kids (or anyone wanting to preserve brain cells). (Full Content Review for Parents - Violence, Sexual Material etc. - also Available)
