User ReviewMatthew JI thought it was great - Im curious why people are so closed minded and behave like hermit crabs in the sense if its not in their little shell - they dont want to know about it. Too many people live in little boxes - which is the core of the story here as Jabez (Baldwin) thinks success (in his lifeless little box) is happiness. When he discovers that this couldn't be further from the truth Webster (Hopkins) steps in to go up against the sinister Devil (Love Hewitt - Who despite all the fat-ass keyboard hero cows opinions - I think is the sexiest she has ever been) in a battle for Jabez's soul. Kim Cattrall is the ever raunchy Assistant in Jabez's success and Dan Aykroyd is his betrayed friend with very little compassion for Jabez's selfishness. If people could take a page from Jabez's "book" and apply it to their own frame of mind, you will most definably be able to familiarize yourself with this heart-felt movie based around the famed story "The Devil and Daniel Webster" by William Dieterle.
User ReviewFrances HFun story, that comes from a well written script which is then played with talent by Anthony and Alec. Cinematography is detailed giving a delicious view for the eye. Being a literary and moral story the depth of language is an enchantment for the ear and mind. Nibbles: Devilled Eggs.
User ReviewLetícia "Saoki" LAlthough this is one of those stories everyone has already read, watched and heard a handfull of times, it doesn't matter. The reason this movie is good isn't the story, which is really just a justification for the happenings in it, but the sheer amount of good performance and good dialogue. Say what you want, this movie doesn't skips a beat. Some people argue that it is the same movie as "Bedazzled", only not funny, these people should be reminded that movies aren't all funny ones, and that contracts with the devil are a plot as old as time. Different movies, different approach. This one is good as it is, and it's a drama. And hats off to Sir Hopkin's monologue at the end of the movie.
