Full Plot Details

If you mixed Ferris Bueller in a blender with Alvy Singer (Woody Allen in "Annie Hall") and Larry David, the result would be SAM BAUM (Josh Gad). He's a lovable, quirky, neurotic NY native, living in LA with his beautiful girlfriend, Sammy (Kristen Ruhlin). A girl he knows how lucky he is to have in his life, since she was previously married to John: a, tall, fit, gorgeous, extremely successful Harvard med school graduate, who she's remained cordial with. Before Sammy, Sam hasn't had much success, romantically. He's an emerging filmmaker with one feature film under his belt that nobody's heard of. And she's an aspiring actress, aching for her big break, which may never come, unless Sam offers her the female lead in his next project, which he does... the night before one of the hottest, most in demand actresses working today, Kim Powers (Hilary Duff), expresses interest in playing the role. Sam wears his heart on his sleeve and has always been honest with Sammy, but now he's caught in a pickle...

User Review - 10/10 by Carol GI liked this movie but it had some moments that I was scratching my head over, I thought it was funny and entertaining. Hilary Duff has way more time in the movie than I thought she would, and so does Charlie Sheen, he's got like 3 scenes, which was cool. Kristen Ruhlin honestly and heartbreakingly portrays the confused, free spirited girlfriend who is with a Woody Allen type guy, played by Josh Gad who meets her style with moments that make you forget it's a comedy. I thought the group of friends were pretty hilarious at times, laugh out loud funny. Johnny Messner had an interesting plot addition and added some humor and awkward moments! I like to support indie films and thought it was worth a go.
User Review - 10/10 by a mEasily one of the better films I have seen this year. Sam, the main character, is heartfelt and truly loveable. Definitely not just for those who like "chick-flicks." Watch it! You won't be sorry.
User Review - 6/10 by Bridget KLikable, albeit neurotic romantic comedy sees Josh Gad as screenwriter with low self-esteem promising a lead role to his girlfriend (Ruhlin) in his next film, but complications ensue as his agent offers the role to a superstar (Duff), and his girlfriend's ex-husband (Messner) comes back into the picture. Gad is ideally suited (physically and in performance) to his role, and the script is modestly clever, although not all characters and situations seem likely much of the time. Charlie Sheen executive produces, and has an amusing cameo.
