The New York TimesRenata AdlerLots of shooting, galloping, terse dialogue—it is the perfect movie to see in a two-theater town on a Saturday night.
Chicago Sun-TimesRoger EbertStrangely enough, the long-awaited meeting between Connery and Miss Bardot is a flop. They look yearningly at each other a lot, and once he puts his arms around her and they fall out of camera range, but otherwise no sparks are struck.
Cinema em CenaPablo VillaçaDmytryk constrói um clima crescente de tensão, sendo auxiliado na tarefa por Connery, que convence como veterano do Oeste americano. No entanto, o final anti-climático compromete a produção.

User Reviewberta aSean Connery and Brigitte Bardot. In a western. With a themesong you have to hear to believe... worth the ~two hours.
User ReviewRichard DThis is a surprisingly good western. An excellent cast with breath-taking on-location filming in New Mexico. Bardot does not have very much to say in the film but she is seductive and stylish and stands out like a sore thumb. Connery is good but, ultimately, not at his best. Honor Blackman is excellent. There are two unusual scenes which come to mind. At the beginning a group of 'hired hands' and an international elite group of aristocratic gentry encounter a puma and cajole it and finally hunt it down. The second is when Honor Blackmans' character is captured by the Apaches: they begin ripping off her clothes and when one loutish red Indian gets up close with her she tries to fend him off with the offer of expensive jewellery but instead of taking the priceless stones he rams a bracelet into her mouth until she suffocates on it???
User ReviewScott EI love sean connery in this film. he played the charachter bang on.
User ReviewCresswell Swho does Connery distance himself from Bond? Make a weird western. LOL
User ReviewJason GI finally saw this oldie for the first time a few years ago - and ever since, one thing continues to trouble me about 'Shalako'. Why does everyone - from authors of several movie-books I've read to my fellow Facebook reviewers here - continue to put this movie down? I thoroughly enjoyed 'Shalako'. It's a fun '60s Western with a story that's a little different, some great scenery, and - most of all - an amazing cast. There's even a great theme-song which is now stuck in my head as I type this, and even some moments that are quite powerful (the death-scene of one of the major characters has haunted me ever since). Although by no means a classic, 'Shalako' is unjustly maligned.
