User Review - 10/10 by First LCall me an acting nerd, but I loved it. It is so consistently stylized and weird, and the actors so thoroughly immersed in Anania's hypnotic style, it intrigued me. If this isn't a test of acting I don't know what is. Reactive and internal silences are real indications of how deep an actor's talent goes, and this pair prove their creds every labored and soundless minute. They may not be saying much, but they're working through every frame on screen.
User Review - 8/10 by Christopher CIts good. Excellent cinematography. Mysterious and dangerous story. See it
User Review - 6/10 by Madeleine MThis gets a 3-star for now. There were stretches of the film I zoned out on (Not because of the movie) and missed plot/action/etc (it had long stretches without much dialog.) What I never was unaware of was the strong atmosphere of the film which happened to be an atmosphere in film that I love - melancholy is a good word to sum it up. It's a film I could put on in the background and then not pay attention to at all (in the traditional sense) and enjoy it because of the atmosphere and how strong it is (to me). The plot I did catch was good, not amazing, but good. It's definitely a film I want to watch when I am able to give my full attention to it.
User Review - 6/10 by Marty BThis movie was well acted, I'm not sure what people expect to see in a film like this. If you like independent style films you will probably get a lot out of it. The script is very intriguing & the movie did not have a storybook ending which is great if you tire of predictability. I think it is great to see James Franco contributing his time to this movie. It didn't have a box office budget, it is supposed to be a low budget film. That is all, enjoy!
User Review - 4/10 by Elizabeth RPelícula extremadamente lenta y aburrida, un guion absurdo y sin sentido, diálogos perdidos como que el escritor estuviese en una nube de droga, incoherente, ni siquiera para ver en casa
User Review - 4/10 by Kelly SI like Julianne Nicholson, Josh Lucas and Martin Donovan, but they wasted their time with this movie. It has lovely cinematography, but other than that, and those three actors, boring and a waste of MY time.
User Review - 4/10 by David Mboring, clueless and pretentious arthouse movie... what a waste, James Franco & Julianne Nicholson are normally outstanding actor, but with a plot like this it just won't help.
User Review - 2/10 by Favio VWatched about 20 min. So bored we turned it off.
User Review - 2/10 by Jhuan DJellyfish are little more than organized water, and this film is little more than organized pixels. I've been seeing a lot of boring films lately, but I don't want you guys to think I'm just an ADD kid with no taste-- I really liked Lost in Translation, that's a good example of a boring movie that's very engaging, I do in fact have the attention span for that sort of thing honest. But this? Okay, I'll give an example of the kind of shit that passes for dialogue in this movie, and mind you, this takes place after the characters have spent a long while sitting on their butts watching the world's most boring nature documentary, interspersed with long silences while they stare at each other blankly. When they do talk, everyone in this movie constantly whispers as if they're tiptoeing around at 2am trying not to wake up gramma. The volume is so magnified you can almost hear the paint crackling as you watch it dry. "So, um.... what is it that you do?" "Oh... things." "......How's that? " "It's what I do. So it's that. " "Sounds okay. .....Is it?" "Why wouldn't it be?" "I dunno." Who comes up with this? Who greenlights it? Who gets it into their head for more than five whole seconds that any of this is excusable in a movie? On top of it all, the soundtrack is like somebody keeps sitting verrrrry slowly on a damp accordion. Awful. The whole thing is just... awful.
User Review - 2/10 by Frances HSlow moving and needlessly disjoint this movie manages to be far less interesting than the clips of nature videos that punctuate it internally. The brooding Mr. Franco is almost the only reason to sit through the disappointment. Some viewing pleasure can be drawn from NYC that provides the wonderfully noir backdrop for an otherwise crushingly boring plot. The movie strives to be a character study of William, who is presented as a vacant cipher and is sketchily drawn. We never actually get to know him, so we never care about him, despite his narration. If anything he isn't someone we want to know.
