Leave your thoughts about Seems Like Old Times.
The DissolveNoel MurraySeems Like Old Times is some of the best work that all of these people ever did on film.
Three Movie BuffsScott NashChase, Hawn and Grodin give it their all in Neil Simon's Seems Like Old Times
New York TimesJanet MaslinThe material here is slick and entertaining, and Mr. Sandrich settles for comic simplicity without reaching for anything more. He coaxes the film along at a cheerfully breakneck rhythm. Zany, zany but nice.
NewsweekJack KrollSeems Like Old Times is another one of those near-misses that leaves a movie critic in a quandary. It's a funny movie, and it made me laugh out loud a lot, but in the final analysis it just didn't quite edge over the mystical line into success.
The Globe and Mail (Toronto)Jay ScottIn this madcap comic farce, the homage to '30s screwball is explicit in the title, unflagging pace, and plot: a liberal lawyer (Hawn), married to an uptight DA (Grodin), gets messed up by a rogue ex-husband (Chase), their ex-convict servants, and her six dogs. A little of Adam's Rib or The Philadelphia Story creeps in as you drift into wondering how Cary Grant or Katharine Hepburn would have mastered the roles of slightly cracked, snobbish professionals.
Washington PostGary ArnoldProducer Ray Stark, screenwriter Neil Simon and director Jay Sandrich obviously intended to whip up a frothy, madcap entertainment in the tradition of the screwball comedies of the '30s and '40s. Their failure to "make one like they used to" incurs a double liability: In addition to wasting resources and disappointing expectations, Seems Like Old Times -- now at area theaters -- appears to trifle with an older and better movie.
Time OutDon MacphersonAfter an hour, you begin to realise the irony of Neil Simon winning awards for Outstanding Writing ...
Movie MetropolisJohn J. Puccio...it's got a gentle charisma that's hard to resist....a film with little substance but loads of charm.
User ReviewApril M"she's not in the kitchen eating friend chicken thats for sure!" This is my all time favorite chevy chase movie, and it is certainly one of the only movies I like Charles Grodin in, and.. goldie hawn is so cute. goldie here, is her daughter now. Chevy and Goldie do wonderful work together. I will own this movie someday. I WILL I WILL I WILL! Can I give a movie more than 5 stars, dammit I wish I could!!
