User ReviewArchibald THorror Anthologies are slowly making a comeback nowadays. With films like 'The Theater Bizarre', 'VHS', 'Little Deaths', 'The ABC's of Death' and even the upcoming 'S-VHS', horrific tales of the macabre are being brought back to the screen in all it's bloody glory! In Scary or Die, another such horror anthology, we're presented with 5 grueling stories. From Zombies, to Killer Clowns, to Vampires, these are such stories: The Crossing: The first starts with two rednecks and a whore who decide to hang out near the border to scare illegal mexicans when they try to come over. Unfortunately these mexicans are bloodthirsty zombies! TaeJung's Lament: The second one reminded me of the film 'Audition'. A lonely asian man who lost his wife (who now haunts him) tries to love again, but his search for love leads him to a beautiful woman with a thirst for blood! This one was very good. RE-Membered: The third one could have easily come from an episode of 'Tales from the Crypt'. It deals with a dirty cop who recently killed a necromancer, chopped him up and put him in the back of his trunk. You just know it's going to end badly for him since it's a freakin' necromancer. This one was the shortest and probably the least interesting. Clowned: The forth one is the best one of all! While preparing for his little brother's birthday party, Emmett gets bitten by the Clown, Fucko, who was suppose to perform at the party. Suddenly, Emmett begins to go through changes as a result. He slowly transforms into a sadistic, murderous clown himself. This one was quite creepy. Lover Come Back: The fifth, and last, one explains the rotting hand that keeps clicking on these stories from their computer. A young woman seeks revenge against the man that she thought that loved her, but instead decided to kill her. She narrates her story while on her way to kill him. This one was short and sweet. Overall, a nicely done piece of horror stories.
User ReviewMathew WThere are going to be many people that hate this film, for the simple reason of Hollywood. This never claimed to be a high budget horror film, nor was it intended to be entirely serious. The four short stories are all completely unique, in a sense. Yes, one of them are terrible (the first) but the others are exactly what you can expect from a low budget horror. The short titled 'Clowned' is great. Yes it has a silly story line, but everything about it made sense. The characters were played really well and it was hard not to get emotionally attached to them. Good acting outplayed the believe-ability and made it something I would actually want to see again.
User ReviewArmando BA not-so-bad indie horror anthology flick, with some good writing and acceptable settings. One of the segments was a lot longer than the rest, but overall it's a well-balanced film, perfect for a late evening...
User ReviewAnthony TThis is an anthology centered around different stories all around Los Angeles. There really hasn't been a good anthology movie for a long time but this one certainly wasn't the worst. Nothing I would call scary but still a good way to kill some time.
User ReviewRyan CThe netflix description makes it seem like this is a movie about a killer clown. It is and it isn't. It's an anthology and one of stories is about a clown. It's pretty good too. Overall, this is a decent horror anthology movie. Not the best I've seen, but worth your time if you're a fan of the genre.
User ReviewAndrew CThe clown story was probably the best one, and that's not really saying too much about this movie. The synopsis says that the stories are intertwining, so I was hoping for something neat like 4 Rooms or similar movies, but as far as I could tell this never happened. The closest thing to story crossovers was the that there was the same guy in two of them, but I think it was just the same actor cause I don't think he was a cop in one of them. I don't know I was kind of half watching this and there was nothing that was really grabbing my attention.
User ReviewRasmus PI generally love horror anthologies but this one is rarely worth your time. Only one of the five segments deserves mention, the longest one, Clowned. The other four, while not really terrible given the films very low budget, doesn't really stand out and are almost never scary or original. Usually, these types of films comes with a wrap-around sequence which makes the whole mess coherent, but this one opted not to give us that satisfaction. I'll still watch any horror anthology I can get my hands on, because if one of the segments aren't satisfying, it's pretty fast on to the next one. Same goes here, where, besides aforementioned Clowned, no segment is longer than 15 minutes. And I'm glad they weren't.
User ReviewBrian CDecent anthology of short horror stories. A few are quite good, however the last one was atrociously bad. Definitely worth a watch for some light entertainment.
