Leave your thoughts about Samurai Rebellion.
Chicago TribuneKevin WilliamsAmazing: stirring, subversive and, beneath their dauntingly severe surfaces, sneakily lyrical.
Chicago Sun-TimesRoger EbertSamurai Rebellion can be seen as a statement against the conformity that remained central in Japanese life long after this period. It is the story of three people who learn to become individuals.
Film and FeltGabe LeibowitzAs powerful, meditative, and gripping as anything Akira Kurosawa, Kenji Mizoguchi, Yasujiro Ozu, or other Japanese masters have created.

Total FilmGeorge WalesKobayashi's films frequently puncture the legend of the ever-obedient samurai, scrutinising the value of such a rigid feudal system without completely dispensing with the adrenaline-soaked fun of a good old-fashioned sword-fight.
Ozus' World Movie ReviewsDennis SchwartzA heart-felt action film that is eloquent and haunting in its reflections on the abuse of powers by the ruling class.

That being said this movie was a true pleasure to watch as the acting was superb, the story powerfully delivered, and the samurai way impeccably styled. |
User ReviewPatryk CToshiro Mifune delivers once more. This film gives us a closer look at life in feudal Japan, and the overwhelming odds facing those who dared oppose the establishment.
