| User ReviewAdam Ean amazing mix of so many different genres all crammed together in a cheesey naughty delight! Theres grindhouse elements mixed with the story of ricky and shogun assassin as well as dollops of sereio leone (sorry for the poor spelling of a legends name!). A simple plot of revenge plays a lot like ninja scroll with the blind samurai having to fight 7 increasingly bizzare and awesome looking villains until the final showdown. Theres pregnant zombie raising witchs, boob hypnotising knives women, bikini samurai and so much more. Did i mention theres oodles of blood? seriously its like lone wolf and cub all over again. no one dies in this film with out peeing 7 gallons of the red stuff every where. And you know what its a better film for it :D Its silly silly fun and the film makers are obviously fans of pretty much everything and they cram it all in but it all works and sticks amazingly well. Its well shot to and the central characters all play there roles either tongue in cheekly or bang on serious and each performance works. There is promise of a sequal and i for one cannot wait! great gorey stuff :) |

| User ReviewPatrick BVéritable salade composée, "Samurai Avenger : The Blind Wolf" mélange films de western, de vengeance, chambara et esprit Grindhouse avec grattage sur pellicule et autres défauts d'images pour faire "comme à l'époque". On ne compte plus les multiples tentatives de revival des années 80 et 70, période considérées comme les plus fastes en matière de film de genre, et ce "Samurai Avenger" en est un autre exemple. Au moins c'est pas un remake, c'est déjà ça ! Passer en revue tous les films auxquels le réalisateur/acteur Mitsutake fait allusions est une perte de temps, autant s'attaquer au film lui-même, un père de famille voit sa femme violée et tuée, avant de se creuver lui-même les yeux pour sauver sa fille, peine perdue, elle se fait tuer aussi, tout ça par un seul homme, Nathan Flesher ! Après un entraînement intensif auquel nous assistons lors de multiples flashbacks, notre "héros" tout de noir vêtu et aveugle, part en guerre pour se venger de Flesher. Pour cela, il doit abattre sept assassins, tâche ardue mais il sera assisté en cours de route par un homme qui recherche sa soeur. Les assassins sont tous différents les uns les autres, looks incroyable, certains ont même des pouvoirs comme celles qui réveille des anciens guerriers mort et qui est enceinte, un autre qui a reçu sa force grâce au fait qu'il ait regardé une jeune femme crever et se décomposer ! Le film se permet même un petit retournement de situation qu'on peut tout de même voir arriver si on est habitué à ce genre de production ! Le film ne lésine pas sur le mauvais jeu d'acteur, l'aspect fauché et grindhouse ainsi que les geyser de sang, tout ça inspiré des films de genre que le réalisateur à l'air de porter dans son coeur. Le problème de "Samurai Avenger" est le même que tous ces films qui tentent de raviver la flamme du passé, imiter ne suffit pas et devient même un gimmick pour masquer le manque d'idée pour un film dont on fait rapidement le tour s'il ne raconte pas quelque chose de vraiment intéressant ! Le film, intéressant, souffre d'un rythme inégal avec toutes ces parties explicatifs qui alourdissent le récit et prend un peu le spectateur pour une bille. C'est quand même bizarre puisque ce genre de production s'adresse en particulier aux amateurs du genre ! C'est une chose de se dire à quel point c'était bien avant, mais ça commence à bien faire. Au lieu de singer les années passées, les réalisateurs devraient un peu plus se creuser la cervelle et donner une identité visuelle aux films d'aujourd'hui, j'imagine mal voir des films qui regarderont en arrière indéfiniment, comme si le bon cinema s'était arrêté, trêve de nostalgie à deux balles ! Cependant, c'est quand même un film amusant à regarder, pas trop mal fichu et avec un certains style, mais d'un autre côté, si je veux voir un film d'époque........rien ne vaut un véritable film d'époque !!! |
