User ReviewRhonda KHistory was fairly accurate with artistic liberties. Not a lot of blood and guts, more of a drama type movie.
User ReviewAmanda HSomething about Kirstie Alley in this movie really rubs me the wrong way. I'm not sure what it is, but she just doesn't seem to fit in. But besides that, I found this to be a great retelling of a story we've all heard a million times and should therefore be uninteresting. It's well acted (mostly), comes across as authentic and believable. This is a subject that has always been of great interest to me, so I really enjoyed this movie.
User ReviewTeppy lI just wish I knew why they acted as they did.
User ReviewStephanie APretty historically accurate for a movie that did not intend to be educational.
User ReviewRalph HI thought the acting wasn´t as good as the plot. It was well showed how the puritans scared themselves to believe in witchcraft and so on. Actually better than I expected.
User ReviewBrittany-Marie AA film with so much potential but poorly executed.
User ReviewGreg WA decent representation of the tale we all know. If you need a new reason to think religion is retarded.. here it is. The run time is the most grueling part... @ 191 mins, it will certainly blow ur evening.
User ReviewGregory Fi actually feel bad giving this movie 2 stars because i didn't finish it. But i tried, i swear. it was too f'ing long and boring and i love the salem story but this wasn't working for me.
User ReviewSarah PIt was alright, but a bit too long. I think they could have gone more in-depth emotionally while still shortening it a bit.
User ReviewConnie HKristie Alley plays Ann Putnam a woman who has had 3 still births. Wanting answers she goes to the town "witch" and her eyes are opened. But living in Puritan times she must close her eyes back up for fear that if her husband finds out she will be punished. Meanwhile a group of pre-teen girls scared out of thier minds by the sermans they hear at church being to feel like thier bodies are being taken over by something. When in fact they are perfectly fine! They see what has happened to other women and girls that break "God's laws," and are now afraid to have a different opinion from Rev. Parris. They don't want to be paraded down the streets where people can throw things at them and call them names. Ann's daughter is the worst of all the girls calling out innocent women as being witches. The new Boston governor sends the old Boston Governor to overlook the happenings in Salem, which was a HUGE mistake. Had the deputy governor never been sent non of those people would have died.
