Screen DailyJonathan RomneyAn unapologetic old-school exploiter going full on for thrills and suspense, it’s undeniably polished and energetic, and features a couple of strong performances from young stars Isabel May and Eli Brown – but it feels fundamentally tasteless, indeed just plain wrong.
The PlaylistJessica KiangAt literally no point in this weirdly lumbering, sluggish movie’s narrative does its grotesque tastelessness ever appear to have occurred to anyone involved.
The Hollywood ReporterDavid RooneyWhat's most notable about Kyle Rankin's slick and compulsively watchable genre entry Run Hide Fight is the utter shallowness of its psychological perspective.
The TelegraphRobbie CollinThe film makes no attempt to grapple with the American school shooting as a nihilistic cultural phenomenon.
VarietyGuy LodgeMerely pedestrian at the levels of direction, craft and performance, the film instead makes a grab for attention by peddling an ambiguous line on gun control and eye-for-an-eye morality. Any controversy that ensues, however, won’t disguise the phoniness of this exploitation exercise, which milks the worst fears of millions in pursuit of empty tension.
IndieWireDavid EhrlichRun Hide Fight is a glib, artless, and reprehensibly stupid thriller that doesn’t even have enough on its mind to be provocative. It’s a movie made by someone who’s seen too many movies, and now made at least one too many as well.
User ReviewAndrew1234556This movie was definitely worth watching as I extended to watch half one night and half the next and ended up just watching the whole thing straight through with my wife. Honestly, this movie is not a perfect 10, but it is really good, and screw the super biased idiot critics. I'm not the biggest action movie person, so some of the suspension of disbelief required wasn't up my alley. However, I did realize after watching it that it is much, much better at balancing entertaining action and reality than most action movies I've seen. Since Die Hard is the go to comparison, I'd say it's more believable than some of the stunts that are magically survived in Die Hard. The characters are by-and-large good! Some look slightly too old to be in high school, but, again, so do the actors in that 70's show, for instance. Isabel, the main actress, was excellent and one of my favorite female leads in an action heavy movie. She's realistic in her character (I've known a few real people like her), doesn't magically do the impossible, and captures the screen when on it. I'll watch again, probably, and despite the distribution company, you too should give it a shot.
User ReviewMisijaI throughly enjoyed this movie! The acting and direction are first rate, despite the absence of a Hollywood A-list celebrity. In the midst of this horrific plot, there are lessons to be considered surrounding relevant topics such as; bullying, social media hysteria, and the dangers of isolation.
User Reviewia123Great movie! Keeps you on the edge of your chair! Very talented young actors.
User ReviewKellyamisAny criticism of the quality of this movie is completely disingenuous. These elitist reviewers need to learn to at least give credit where credits due or they’ll never be taken seriously. Movie was phenomenal overall. There was a couple of awkward moments and forced dialogue but that with any action thriller. They’re not meant to be literary in nature. However the conservative values were evident but displayed in a passive nature where most people on either side of the aisle would fail to identify them if they weren’t pointed out. It’s not propagandist like leftist entertainment is. I loved it.
