Georgia StraightItrath SyedThis film -- part Mad Men and part Jerry Maguire -- is an underdog story about grit, perseverance, and ethics. Some sections in the first half of the film seem to drag, but once the story kicks off, you'll be sold on it.
The New York TimesRachel SaltzMr. Kapoor, a heartthrob who has quickly become a star playing cads, turns in a skillfully understated performance. His Harpreet is an old-school hero: solid, righteous, compassionate. You can’t help cheering for him.

User ReviewAndrei ZNot your average India Film. Well done, good story, good message, good cast , character portrayal, and ending. If you are looking for basic bollywood dancing, see something else as this has no dances.
User ReviewPurvesh KAmazing movie! Very real. People in sales and biz dev can easily relate with this movie. Acting by Ranbir kapoor is phenomenal. Very powerful script and well edited. Story is about a entrepreneur or rather a sales man with different attitude who fails in standard target driven aggressive and hostile sales env [ most of sales orgs are like what has been depicted in the movie - no holes barred]. That failure, coupled with leadership qualities, propels him to start business. Movie is fantastic in the sense it shows how he forms his team, builds business and operates it successfully at the same time working for another company. When I saw this movie, I remembered my earlier days when I used to be in computer business in India while working for a software company, before coming to US. I could co-relate quite a few things in the movie from my past days and even now. I would highly recommend watching this movie even if you don't understand hindi. Subtitles will help. Essentially anyone in sales, business development and entrepreneurial efforts should definitely make an effort to watch it.
User ReviewJack LMini Review 8 - Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year Plot: Harpreet Singh Bedi (Ranbir Kapoor) is a commerce graduate equipped with the dream of becoming a salesman. As a first stepping stone towards that goal, he joins a big computer assembly and service company - AYS. Pretty soon he finds out that world is not as true and clean as he perceived and jumps on to the decision of floating his own service company "Rocket Sales Corporation" on the sidelines. Brimming with honesty and confidence, Rocket Sales starts chewing in to AYS's profits and clientele. Rest of the story is about what fate has in store for Harpreet and how he comes across as an eventual winner. Positives: --> Talk about novelty and this is it. --> Excellent performance by Ranbir Kapoor --> Focused story line and squeaky clean narration with no hiccups and tangents Negatives: --> Me - if I end up writing something under this header!
User ReviewPraveen MOne of the best movies from Bollywood Industry. Just shows that even movies can be made without Singing & Dancing...
User ReviewLeo LGreat movie that centralizes on a young college graduate that wishes to enter the business world of sales and marketing. Harpreet Singh Bedi lands a job with a computer company, and quickly learns that the position and the people working there aren't exactly what he had originally envisioned. The ethics involved alone causes problems with his own values, and this creates havoc with fellow salesmen, the sales manager, and the company director. The humiliation he endures allows him to take it upon himself to create a small company within the one he works for, and thus produces greater responses and connections utilizing the principles of values he abhors: co-op planning. Ranbir Kapoor, Shazhan Padamsee, Sharon Prabhakar, Gauhar Khan, and Prem Chopra stars. Definitely worthy!
User ReviewKanishka SBest Hindi movie of the year. Right up there with Munnabhai as a funny, well thought and brilliantly executed entertainer - with great heart. Anybody who has worked in Sales in India will identify with this :-)
User ReviewSwastik MNot a commercial movie. For people who want good, talented work from the Bollywood industry, this is one movie you don't wanna miss. Way underrated as far as direction goes. Neat, balanced performances by all of the main actors. Shimit seems obsessed with details which actually adds to the fun, if you look closely. Also, screenplay and color coordination in the frame is something he seems to be particularly interested in choreographing with his direction. The story is a good one but if you want some new fiction, the kind that hasn't been explored before, this is ordinary for the most part, but keeps the Bollywood style intact without getting into crappy shots or item numbers. Couple of Burman scores here and there. No glossy, commercialized styling. Pure, neat performances by all those who were involved.
