A boatload of Westerners is trapped in Manchuria as bandits led by Russian renegade Voronsky ravage the area. Seeking refuge in a fortified inn, the group is led by the boat's Captain Carson, who becomes involved with a woman who "belongs" to Voronsky. The action is livelier than you'd expect from a film of this era, and it has a fast-paced plot and colorful cast - Richard Dix is fun as the boozy but gallant hero, and Gwili Andre is beautiful and mysterious. Not quite memorable enough to be a classic, but solid entertainment for classic movie fans. |
