User Review - 8/10 by Alfin NThis adaptation of Roald Dahl's Esio Trot is charming, clever, funny, very sweet and has great chemistry between Dustin Hoffman and Judi Dench.
User Review - 8/10 by James OSurprisingly good! Dustin Hoffman and Judi Dench both fab!!
User Review - 8/10 by Muzz MDelightful gentle comedy with a generous dose of Roald Dahl weirdness. Predictably great performances from Dustin Hoffman and Judi Dench, and even the one-dimensional James Cordon is well cast as the soppy narrator.
User Review - 8/10 by Toni SDelightful romantic comedy featuring two superb performers at the top of their game.
User Review - 8/10 by Benson JI'd read the short story on which this movie is adapted from to my children years ago, and was curious as to how they could turn such a short, simple tale into a full length movie. To tell the truth, I had limited expectations. But I was pleasantly surprised overall, with both the acting and the story carrying the original story and building on it convincingly.
User Review - 8/10 by Louise BLoved this version as it summed up answers to questions I had when I read the book. Couldn't have asked two better actors to have played the main characters. Dustin Hoffman was loveable as Mr Hoppy and Dame Judi Dench brought out Mrs Silver brilliantly. A wonderful story told with a unique point of view that left me thinking what a wonderful change to the usual misery that comes on TV at Christmas (I won't mention THAT episode in Downton).
User Review - 8/10 by Dave CGorgeous little film about an attempt to win a girls heart with lots of effort and reptiles
User Review - 6/10 by Akash SA sweet little romantic film based on Roald Dahl's book. A retired elderly man pursuing the affections of his elderly neighbour; it's a charming movie, filled with tortoises acting as catalysts in their love story. Dustin Hoffman and Dame Judi Dench can surely captivate us all by themselves, even at this age. James Corden's narration is commendable. For most of it, the film is delightful but forgettable, but the I really loved the last five minutes; the sweet reveal is sure to leave a smile on one's face.
User Review - 6/10 by Brett BAn odd quirky tale that is wonderfully brought to life by Hoffman and Dench who are just great in their roles. Corden's narration feels unwanted and intrusive when it pops up and ideally should have been omitted. The story feels slightly uncomfortable when the lie is exposed (something I don't think happens in the book), but apart from that it was an enjoyable watch.
