Internet ReviewsSteve RhodesAn action packed picture with equal measures of sweetness and violence, like a delicious sweet-and-sour sauce, it's also quite funny. But, most of all, it's a lot of fun.
CinemaBlend.comBryce WilsonNo this movie doesn't have any redeeming social value.
L.A. WeeklyDavid ChuteA fourth-generation Terminator hand-me-down.
Hollywood ReporterRichard James HavisThis Japanese sci-fi actioner copies so many Hollywood hits that it should win an award from the Xerox Corp.
CompuserveHarvey S. KartenRips off oodles of other sci-fi pics while draining their humor and providing unmemorable characters.
Arizona Daily StarPhil VillarrealWorth catching for fans of the genre, just to whet the imagination of what this talented director could do with a coherent screenplay.
Ozus' World Movie ReviewsDennis SchwartzAt its worse when it tries to get serious, emotional or to just end the damn film.
Entertainment WeeklyBruce FrettsWith his tousled mane and wispy facial hair, Asian pop star/ Prada model Kaneshiro suggests a Japanese Johnny Depp, but even his charisma can't carry Returner through its interminable longueurs. Blame it on Yamazaki.
AboutFilm.comCarlo CavagnaYes, apparently Yamazaki takes breaks from his repeated viewings of E.T. by relaxing with THE MATRIX. Occasionally, just for a bit of variety, he might also pop INDEPENDENCE DAY into the DVD player.
Seattle Post-IntelligencerSean AxmakerA B-movie goof on an A-minus budget, Returner is a mini-epic tweaked with computer effects and one blazing gun battle after another and set to an anonymous techno-beat.
