User ReviewRyan DAn original slasher movie. Original story, original villain, some original deaths.
User ReviewMadhur dMy friends band did the theme song for this flick!!!!
User ReviewChris KReally it would've been 5 stars but they lost me with the ending. This film should've wrapped about 5 to 10 minutes sooner and it would've made sense.
User ReviewJulian TAaron is a young writer growing increasingly annoyed by the noisy, dysfunctional couple sharing his wafer-thin apartment walls. Linda is a sexy blond and 1/2 of the neighbor couple driving Aaron mad. The two cross paths at the local fluff n' fold and after some sarcastic banter, agree to a lunch date. Seems Linda is supposed to be at a friend's birthday bash, but her arse-hole boyfriend refused to take her. Aaron offers to cheer her up by wielding an impromtu horror tale involving the birthday celebration, hot n' horny partiers, a cabin in the woods and a masked killer. From here, the film bounces between the "real world" of the couple creating the story and the gore-soaked tale being created. While the "date" scenes are clever and enjoyable enough, the "story" is where Velvet blooms (in fact, it's almost a bummer when we're thrust back into "reality"). Aaron and Linda's creation is a loony, surreal, blood n' boobs parody jammed with humor, oddball kills (Jason never wielded an alligator that I recall), trippy Argento-esque visuals and one helluva unique slasher get-up (electronic bunny ears, head-mount polaroid, white jumpsuit, pink utility belt). A wildly entertaining, off-kilter indie gem for those looking for something a little "different".
User ReviewMatt SThe movie sets itself up as a dark romantic comedy framed around the telling of a horror story. It's a lot of fun, until the ending, which is both predictable and nonsensical. With a better script, this could have been a real gem. Also, Elliott from E.T. is the main character, and he's fantastic.
User ReviewJosh WThis was an interesting take on the slasher genre, book-ended with the story of a edgy looking guy chatting up a girl at a laundromat. While his slightly creepy mannerisms and manipulations made me wonder why the girl stayed around to hear his story, it was a fun take on the material. The day-glo use of color and splatter really spices things up visually, and while I wasn't ever exactly rooting for any of the characters, I wasn't bored either. Give it a rental/
User ReviewCheryl Obooooorrrring... they wanted to make some turn in the end, but messed it up.
