Movie Reviews

San Francisco Chronicle - 10/10 by Mick LaSalleRed Sparrow is a thoroughly entertaining movie that stays fresh and interesting for all of its two-hours-plus running time. But what kicks it into a higher level is that it’s a terrific vehicle for Jennifer Lawrence, one of the few movie stars who deserves one, who is a film star in the classic sense.
Detroit News - 9/10 by Adam Graham"Red Sparrow" is Lawrence's show, and she navigates the role with steely grace and unwavering courage.
Tolucan Times - 9/10 by Tony Medley...twists galore, some I don't remember from the book...Lawrence and Edgerton are very good but Schoenaerts outshines them...despite an ill-advised ending and a little too much graphic violence the story holds up and there is tension throughout.
Geeks of Color - 9/10 by Marie GarduñoThis is not a spy movie, as the trailers made us believe, nor is it an interesting film with an attractive plot and appealing characters. This is a movie made for Jennifer Lawrence to shine.
Quad City Times (Davenport, IA) - 9/10 by Linda Cook'Red Sparrow' flies into graphic violence, smart script.
Columbus Underground - 9/10 by Hope MaddenThe film has some style, some queasying violence and unrepentant perversions, and Jennifer Lawrence. It could be worse.
Assignment X - 9/10 by Abbie Bernstein[Eventually," Red Sparrow becomes a well-paced if not entirely engaging tale of international espionage, with the requisite number of plot twists.
One Guy's Opinion - 9/10 by Frank SwietekConsistently intriguing and at times even compelling, though it does seem a bit out-of-date, as well as arguably overlong.
The Lens - 9/10 by Andrew WyattAn exceedingly novel slice of pop entertainment: a sordid spy story for those who relish the genre's escapist titillation, but find martial arts and explosions wearying.
KDHX (St. Louis) - 8/10 by Martha K. Baker... horribly violent, horribly sexualized exploitation version of Mad Magazine's "Spy v. Spy."
