The latest meeting of Lawrenceton librarian Aurora "Ro" Teagarden's real murders discussion club - where fellow member and Ro's best friend, newspaper reporter Sally Allison, had arranged for new Lawrenceton resident, Ro's favorite current mystery novelist and temporary university professor, Robin Daniels, to speak - is canceled after one of the club members is found bludgeoned to death in his/her home. The case is being led by Homicide Detective Lynn Liggett-Smith, the husband of fellow detective, and Ro's ex-boyfriend and ex-club member, Arthur Smith. There is no love lost between Lynn and Ro because of Ro's amateur sleuthing in past murder cases in town. Because of a telephone call to the meeting venue earlier in the evening referring to the Julia Wallace murder, the initial thought by Ro based on this circumstantial evidence is that the murderer is one of the club members. Julia Wallace's unsolved murder from 1934, the case which only the club members would have known was going to be discussed at the meeting, mimics this murder. Robin's coincidental arrival onto the scene and his seeming inability or non-want to provide an alibi for the time of the murder also places him on the suspect list. As the detectives, Ro and the club members investigate, other club members and their loved ones are targeted by the murderer, each attempt mimicking a case previously discussed by the club. Ro systematically tries to discover who the next victim or victims will be both to prevent the attempts from succeeding and discover the identity of the murderer. She also has to decide whether to trust Robin, the two who are beginning to have feelings for each other.

User ReviewKim HAlthough this is the second movie in the Aurora Teagarden Mystery series, the storyline actually follows the first book in the series. Knowing this, I don't think it matters that they switched around the order. Once again, Candace Cameron Bure, does a wonderful job in portraying the main character. I love that she is so intelligent, as well as being a bit sweet, but with nerves of steel. The new love interest in this movie, a mystery writer, balances her out perfectly. He's intelligent too, but uses a bit more caution when it comes to heading into a dangerous situation. I enjoyed the mystery itself as well, although I knew early on who the killer was, because of a remark that was made, and it just seemed really out of place. But since there was so many deaths/crimes it was interesting to try to figure out how each one was accomplished. And the twist at the end really made up for figuring out who the killer was early on. Aurora's relationship with her old boyfriend's wife changed a bit by the end of this movie, and I'm glad it did. Although there's still some tension, it wasn't as catty as it had been. I was also amused again by seeing books by Charlaine Harris during a scene that took place in the library. If you weren't aware, this series, along with Sookie Stackhouse series (aka True Blood), and the Midnight, Texas series which is coming to TV later this year (you can read my reviews here, here and here) were all books written by Charlaine Harris. If you enjoy reading Cozies, or like watching mysteries without blood and gore, then you should give the Aurora Teagarden mysteries a try.
User ReviewDes SI haven't seen the first one yet, but I really enjoyed this one. I loved Candace in this and I look forward to watching more in the series.
User ReviewSusan HThe story is ok. The actors and actresses are generally good. The dialogue of Aida is horrendous. She tells a 30 something daughter that "her activities are not wholesome and inappropriate?? Who do you know that actually speaks that way to their fully adult daughter?? Otherwise it is good as are the others. Sadly, the dialogue for Aida doesn't get better with time.

User ReviewHeather MA solid sequel and a fun continuation of the many adventures of librarian Aurora Teagarden. The whole real murders club is back for another round of murder and mayhem. Aurora's new love interest is also very enjoyable.
User ReviewJoanna PLaboured acting, heavy-handed directing, and a cast who are simply too young and beautiful to be involved in a 'real murders' club in a small town.
