User ReviewDarren WIt's like one of those films that you went to video shop and got it for the cover but its a pretty good way of killing time. Words fail me as to the frustration as to why films like these that were made back then have completely disappeared. Sure it ain't no Citizen Kane but at it's core it's entertainment and at then end of the day and film is just a film regardless of the budget. Any film that had Michael Dudikoff during the Bachelor Party/American Ninja years is worth a look and seriously it ain't bad if you can suspend disbelief for a couple hours. I mean that 'Guilty Pleasure's" song is a masterpiece. This film had the guy from My Science Project and Christine and the guy from American Ninja and Avenging Force. It was made in '85 but then again I think Goonies was and that sucked. If you can find this and any of those movies on DVD consider yourself very fortunate.
User ReviewKurt Whave you heard of this one???? Let me know, its a ol school one
User ReviewIan KOne of my few non-DVD highlights. A post-apocalyptic detective yarn. This introduced me to the writer Raymond Chandler still amazes me. It's not brilliant art, but it's a music based end of the world fun and always leaves a smile.
User ReviewJosh E(minor spoilers) Where else can you get cheesy acting, completely unbelievable subplots, and really - I mean REALLY - bad puns?!? All put together in typical 80's fashion. (or at least typical for 80's post-apocalyptic B-movies of the time) I saw this one when it came out and loved it. You have main characters Phillip & Marlowe - two innocent, naive twenty-somethings who want to start the first post-apocalyptic detective agency. They happen to stumble onto the keys for the last nuclear bombs that could be launched to finally destroy the world. And they practically lay themselves out as bait in order to draw out all of the bad guys/girls. Then top it off with one of the guys is dead set on creating the first post-apocalyptic dance moves! Sorry if you don't see the humor in this one, but if you take everything in it with a grain of salt and just enjoy, you might surprise yourself with this one!
User ReviewTrinity CBack in 1989 I used to have this GREAT video guide book -L.A. Morse's "Video Trash and Treasures". He searched through bargain bin sci-fi, sleaze and horror to sort the sh*t from the gems. That book pointed me in the direction of some overlooked good films and this was one of them. It wasn't great, but it was kinda cool and for a while back in the late 80s it felt like I had found a decent little film no one else had heard about. Something off the beaten track with a cool premise and the guy from American Ninja.
User ReviewAnthony VWhere to start with this one? It's a post-apocalyptic, sci-fi, action, comedy and musical. On a very low-budget! Fascinating in it's constant energy and pace (not to mention bubbly 80's soundtrack) But blissfully incoherent as well with bizarre supporting characters, a must for those who love b-movies! Others Beware!
User ReviewChris PMutant rats, George Kennedy, and a dance number.
User ReviewJoshua BI saw this movie a long time ago and it was strange then as I'm sure it is strange now. It was full of action and it has that total 80s vibe. Not the best but not the worst.
User ReviewChris Gi am a sucker for doomsday flicks even if they are a bit cheesy
User ReviewCaleb Mnew wave 80s film noir starring John Stockwell (Christine,My Science Project) and Michael(american ninja) Dudikoff..perhaps this film will become more enjoyable with another viewing but i found it dry as hell ..considering it had cannibals and toxic waste which usually makes a cheesy flick like this more fun
