During a UFO Convention at Planet Hollywood, the skeptical Jack picks up Dr. Alex Friedman, who will present a scientific lecture at the event. Then he is pressed by two henchmen of his former boss, the criminal Wolff, who wants to talk to him, but Jack does not want to return to the crime life. Jack fights and gets rid of them; out of the blue, he finds two teenagers on the backseat of his cab. They say they are siblings, Sara and Seth, and they need to travel to a location outside Las Vegas in the middle of nowhere. Meanwhile, the government finds a spacecraft that crashed near Las Vegas and chases the two aliens; after the investigation of the men of Major Henry Burke, they discover that the two siblings are the aliens. Jack Bruno, Sara and Seth are chased by Henry Burke's team and by "Syphon", a killer from outer space sent to kill them by their planet's military that wants to invade Earth. Sara and Seth explain that they traveled to Earth to collect scientific data of an experiment and save Earth from invasion, but they need to return immediately to their planet. | E! OnlineLuke Y. ThompsonA new family classic the entire family can actually enjoy. |
Laramie Movie ScopeRobert RotenThere are no sustained characters of any kind, despite some capable acting talent. There is no believable relationship between the characters. There is no attempt to develop any of the political issues the film touches upon.
Eclipse MagazineMichelle AlexandriaThe film lacks soul and is straight out of Disney cookie cutter land, especially the cheesy low budget special effects. But somehow the film works for me, it's just a nice little diversion.
Reeling ReviewsLaura Clifford...a numbing, pedestrian outing. It looks cheesy too.
ReelTalk Movie ReviewsJohn P. McCarthyNearly everything's amiss with this falsely frenetic revamp of Disney's 1975 live-action movie 'Escape to Witch Mountain.'
I.E. WeeklyAmy NicholsonIt cracks skulls for thrills; I'm uneasy that the MPAA prigs see the Disney castle at the opening credits and think nothing of its conscienceless, consequenceless thuggery.
The Hollywood ReporterKirk HoneycuttIt's entertaining with a crafty mixture of action, humor and drama.
Seattle Post-IntelligencerAndy SpletzerAfter an excellent setup, the movie becomes bogged down in chase scene after chase scene on its way to its inevitable ending.
Toronto StarGreg QuillIt's a fast, funny, frightening and family-friendly movie, an affectionate tribute to the original, and a vintage thrill ride enhanced by modern visual trickery, crazy characters -- and a soupçon of skepticism.
Entertainment WeeklyClark CollisThe planet-hopping children have special talents -- telekinesis, telepathy etc. -- although it is the high-wattage lovability of Mr Rock that's the real superpower on display here.
