| User ReviewChanse BGood with showing the hardships of slavery and the south, this film has a good plot twist. |
| User ReviewBobby S"In 1850, many dreamed of freedom. Few had the courage to attempt it." (from the movie jacket). "A moving, exciting historical melodrama" (CHICAGO TRIBUNE)..."It tugs at the intellect as well as the heartstrings." HOLLYWOOD REPORTER. Doesn't go into the story of slavery with as much depth as the mini-series ROOTS but shows the valiant struggles of 4 runaway slaves and the hardships they faced traveling north to Canada on the Underground Railroad. Heartbreak and tragedy are tempered by compassionate and courageous individuals supplying food, shelter and travel arrangements for the runaways. I recommend this for family viewing with your older children (age 10+). |
