In April 2009 three young men were killed in a remote part of Yellowstone National Park. Authorities Never Found the Murderer. He Found Them. Only hours after three young men were gunned down in cold blood, Dwayne Nelson walked into a ranger station miles away and confessed to the crime. Despite his detailed confession, Dwayne Nelson was allowed to go free because of a loophole in the American Constitution. Award Winning Canadian Documentarian Julian T. Pinder (Trouble in the Peace, Land, Jesus Town) travels to Yellowstone in a cinematic and compelling chase for truth behind a crime that should have rocked the nation. How did the United States Constitution, the supreme law of the United States of America, let a guilty man go free? In his hunt for answers Pinder breaks the first rule of documentary film making by allowing himself to become a subject in the story; risking his life and others when he finds evidence that could re-open the case of the Yellowstone Murders years later. In Pinder's POPULATION ZERO we come to find the only thing more shocking than the crime itself are the bizarre events that followed.

ComingSoon.netCamilla JacksonEerie imagery, building suspense and a cleverly executed sense of dread help move the film along from a standard doco to having the trimmings of a straight-up horror film.
StarburstJohn TownsendPopulation Zero edges towards disappointing its audience, but is interesting enough in its early stages to make it a worthwhile watch, and certainly one of the better mock-documentaries you will come across.
Screen ZealotsLouisa MooreThis low budget film is a shrewd, rebellious work of art that takes a complex idea and executes it exceptionally well. There's much to admire in its ambitious spirit.
NOW TorontoNorman WilnerThe stiffness could be forgiven if the story were intriguing -- or even if Pinder and Levin were commenting on the format somehow -- but there's nothing here. I have no idea why this movie exists.
User ReviewMike%20 DA very interesting film. Enjoyed it a lot... definitely worth a watch...
User ReviewCasey PEven though it gets funky towards the end, this pseudo-documentary keeps your attention from start to finish.
User ReviewChristopher MHow did I not hear about this crime before? Grim.
User ReviewRhiannon MI got half way through the movie thinking this was a crazy story based on real life. It started to get scripted and not like other documentaries I've watched in the past. Still a good movie. Had me duped for a min! Still worth a watch!

User ReviewPeter ZIf you enjoy crime investigation stories, this will be a ride work taking. I didn't consider it a horror movie in the classic sense. The photography is beautiful in parts and equally bland in others. The story builds slowly at first. and I suppose some will lose interest. But stick with it. The film is about the right length and the mock documentary style will draw you in. The ending is not what you might anticipate.
