In 20 years He's directed more films than Martin Scorsese, He's produced more profitable movies than Jerry Bruckheimer, And he's infuriated more actors than Alfred Hitchcock. The ultimate B Movie Documentary, focusing on B Movie Giant Jim Wynorski (and B Movie Celebration Mentor) and his attempt to make a feature film in 3 days. He's directed seventy feature films, but he's never made one... in THREE DAYS .Jim cuts the shooting schedule, has the actors cook their own food. A documentary featuring B-Movie legends Roger Corman, Andy Sidaris, Julie Strain, Julie K. Smith and Stormy Daniels, Popatopolis follows Jim Wynorski as he begins to film one of his many opuses "Witches of Breastwick" Jim's frenetic pace demands 100 setups per day (the Hollywood standard is 20), and he reduces his electric package to just two lights so he can concentrate on the task at hand.A great overview of a true master at work and in many ways a laser sharp dialectic on the state of B filmmaking today.

User Review - 10/10 by Peter WA great documentary about a guy who's made some amazing films.
User Review - 6/10 by Eric BA modestly enjoyable doc about B-movie director Jim Wynorski, who has made 75 low-budget movies that few people beyond cultists have seen (the most popular ones include "Chopping Mall," "The Return of the Swamp Thing" and "Not of This Earth"). Here, he is attempting to shoot an exploitation film called "The Witches of Breastwick" (self-explanatory) within just three days. Wynorski is an interesting, cranky character, but one learns little about filmmaking and mostly has to be content with ogling the curves of Wynorski's buxom actresses.
User Review - 4/10 by Allan CDocumentary about exploitation director Jim Wynorski, a highly prolific director of trashy films for nearly 30 years, and his quest to shoot a new trashy film in three days. "Hearts of Darkness" this film is not. In that documentary of "Apocalypse Now", there was a classic film that had even more unbelievable behind the scenes drama. This documentary follows the filming of a dumb film being shot on a shoestring with no real drama. A better film would have been to examine the career of Wynorski and similar directors of his ilk. There are hints of that better movie with interviews with Roger Corman, Andy Sidaris, Julie Strain, Lloyd Kaufman and Tom Savini about director Wynorski. There is also a bit of analysis/editorial near the end observing that Wynorski has chosen to make worthless shlock to collect a paycheck from Cinemax and the Playboy Channel, but the film really doesn't explore this with Wynorski. There's also hints of a more interesting film when Julie Strain observes there is no such thing as B films any more, and that there are really only A film or C films, and no real training ground for performers to work their way up anymore. That also may have been a more interesting documentary to explore. Instead, this film is mostly just a crew of three people shooting "The Witches of Breastwick" in a rented cabin. For a much better time, rent Wynorski's "Dinosaur Island" and listen to his commentary track, which he get's credit for doing the first "Special Edition" of a trashy film when laserdiscs first came out.
