Leave your thoughts about Pledge.
Film ThreatNorman GidneyThe surprise is the remarkable script from screenwriter (Zack Weiner) and the sharp-eyed direction from Daniel Robbins who work to take an idea we have seen a million times before and turn out something new and fiercely entertaining.
VarietyDennis HarveyThis third feature for director Daniel Robbins is no delicate flower of cinematic art, but a lean and mean shocker that tells its tale of collegiate hazing run amuck with brute efficiency.
The Globe and Mail (Toronto)Barry HertzIt’s not that every film has to achieve some grand epiphany, but Touch Me Not is not nearly as satisfying as the primal act it’s obsessed with.
Movie NationRoger MoorePledge is a bloody, nervy and lean thriller about “hazing” taken to its logical extreme. If you’re OK with torturing somebody so that the “shared experience” will “bond” you to your “brothers,” maybe there’s a little sociopath in you, Pledge.
The New York TimesJeannette CatsoulisIf you like your torture movies tight, twisty and decently executed, then Pledge is for you.
Los Angeles TimesNoel MurrayThe characters and premise of Pledge are over-the-top, but the movie understands that — whether comedy or horror — all these stories are really about a desperate yearning for belonging.
The Hollywood ReporterJohn DeForeWhile some thriller addicts may embrace the resulting misanthropic action, others may find their minds wandering — to the many real-life cases of fraternity hazing, gang-rape and run-of-the-mill antisocial behavior that inspire deeper feelings of dread than this unconvincing outing.
User ReviewLionel_JosephYou know I truly went into this movie expecting something decent and you know what I got? Utter garbage of the lowest quality. Just to sum it up quickly I will say that every last character in this movie is just god awful and left me hoping that, by the end, not one of them was left standing. It is ridiculously predictable and even the more violent and grotesque scenes did nothing new or shocking whatsoever. The only redeeming quality about this movie is the fact that it crushes nicely under the weight of a semi-truck tire after being chucked onto the freeway. Absolutely avoid this movie at all costs for gods sake. We as viewers should not have to tolerate such garbage and need to speak up against poor levels of creativity, character development and story in our films. I truly look forward to seeing both the writer and director of this movie never work in film again unless they decide to come together once more to document themselves putting their heads into wood chippers on camera.
