However, as he is freed, back in Italy, he discovers that Colette married a surgeon, unable to wait for a long time and frustrated that he never gave news of his. As she does not want to speak to him again, Andrea, in a redemption attempt, calls her place, and a young 7-year old girl answers the phone, possibly a child that he conceived with Colette before leaving for Africa. He will have a chance to be with the child just for one day, as Colette does not want to see him again. However, he gets a fatal heart attack, but at least, he had to chance to know his daughter before dying.
