Slant MagazineDiego SemereneThe anticlimactic child in Patrik, Age 1.5 isn't as nightmarish as Rosemary's Baby or the man-eating wooden branch-sucking-on-a-pacifier in Jan Svankmajer's Little Otik, but it sets off just as much anxiety.
VarietyDennis HarveyDelivers a formulaic-sounding conceit with enough unpredictability and downplayed sentiment to earn the heartwarming emotions that might too easily have arrived on cue.

Washington PostAnn HornadayA film that always chooses optimism and wishful thinking over realism.

User ReviewSue SThis Swedish production has nothing to do with "The Kids Are All Right", Mr Wesley Morris - if you compare it with the other film, then every film that has to do with couples, families and the problems in them would be following the same scheme, and I'm sure there's a good lot that fall into that frame. I like it very much, it is not just optimistic, it also doesn't lose the sense for reality, Mrs Hornaday, as the negative reactions and prejudices of neighbours and other characters come through along the whole film. It just proves to me again that, if American productions would be given much less preference to films from other parts of the world, people would become much more aware that European and Asian and African and Latin-American films can be just as good if not even better than many of the bulk goods that come from Hollywood.
User ReviewPhil AThis movie made me cry. A couple is trying to adopt, a mix up gives them a 15 year old, rebellious and homophobic. He tests the strength of the relationship, and sees a new relationship bloom and also be tested. Such a well done movie.
User ReviewErica Ji really enjoyed this movie. Then again i am a huge fan of foreign films!
User ReviewJames RWhat you would expect to be a comedy of errors, a violent mistake, or a masturbation film (thanks, American film!), simply turns out to be a truly heartfelt interpretation of what life for LGBT families is around the world in this day. I was never once disappointed. Steer clear of the pro-critics, for they are merely paid to make a comment on something they are presented... whether they view it or not.
