User Review - 10/10 by Mark CThis is a really fun film to watch. A mix of genre all in one I wish it had more stories to make even more sense. In despite of that, I was still thoroughly entertaining. This is the kind of film you gotta see if there's nothing on. I promise you won't be wasting your time..
User Review - 10/10 by Kerr LHow has this not been reviewed? Perfection.
User Review - 8/10 by Chris MThe fact that this film is so poorly reviewed comes as a surprise to me. Probably because it is misgenred and marketed as a horror film. It isn't. It's a pitch black Dark comedy that lampoons older films like "The Reanimator" and other grind house horror. movie is aware of this, it even goes so far as to say how it's all impossible through Garrett, the stand in for the audience. The guy just sitting in experiencing the madness as it unrolls. Far from a perfect film, it didn't seem to know what tone it wanted to take. Initially coming off like a clean horror then devolving into pure satire for the final act. The pacing of this transition is well done but probably left a few audience members scratching their heads. The attempted moral in the back ground of body positivity muddled the film further. No one of these aspects is bad. But all together it creates an odd film. Which I personally enjoy.
User Review - 8/10 by Juana WExtremely unique story, a real story, of beautiful strong women set in the context of a quirky horror flick. Definitely entertaining.
User Review - 6/10 by Gman HEntertaining & quite funny in parts. [6/10]
User Review - 6/10 by Justin BPromising if a little messy directorial debut. An obvious throwback to the likes of Frank Hennenlotter that injects enough of its own brand quirkiness to stand as more than just an imitation.
User Review - 6/10 by Jesse OMary Shelley's Frankenstein is one of the most influential books in all of horror history, even though it's basically Shelley's interpretation of the golem from Jewish folklore. Regardless, Frankenstein has been incredibly influential in horror and the name itself has absolutely transcended the genre. You don't have to know horror to know who Frankenstein is. This also brings us to The Re-Animator which, obviously, was very much inspired by Frankenstein, except Re-Animator had a darkly comedic and tongue-in-cheek tone. I don't know how influential Re-Animator has been on horror flicks that came after it, but I know I had a blast watching it both times that I did. And, you could say, that this movie would have not been possible without the existence of both Frankenstein and the Re-Animator. I'd say mostly the latter than the former, since this movie takes a considerably more comedic approach and there's no exploration of the themes of, maybe, you shouldn't play 'god' by creating...a living being constructed from the body parts of other deceased people. Hell, this movie goes as far as to thank Stuart Gordon (director and co-writer of Re-Animator), so you can see that this was meant to be a love letter to that movie. But, to be fair, while there are obvious comparisons to be made, I think that this movie manages to inject enough ideas for it to stand out on its own. For example, the whole three different personalities stuck in one body, while not necessarily super creative, does make for an interesting little twist on the concept and the interaction between the three women ends up being one of the highlights of the film. The movie is simple enough, these three women wake up inside the same body, composed of different parts from each of them, after all three of them went to this bar. The story is, basically, them trying to figure out who did this to them and making them pay for their actions. The movie, very obviously, has a supremely limited budget but, you know what, I felt that that was never really too much of a drawback for this movie. It's got a talented cast, a (mostly) entertaining script and a lot of energy that made up for the lack of gloss and polish on the technical side of things. I say mostly because I had some issues that I'll touch on later. But, for the most part, I really did have fun watching this movie. There's something about seeing a re-animated corpse, comprised of the bodies of three women, who are all occupying the same mind, going on a murderous rampage to get rid of all the toxic men in their lives who may (or may not) have had anything to do with what happened to them and their current state. The three women themselves, as far as characters go, are a bit one-dimensional. Jennifer is the control-freak of the group. Madeleine is the self-conscious one. And Ellie is the dumb blonde. It's the combination of the three that make this work, because, while there's nothing here that you could call incredible character development, the characters play off of each other well because of their differences. Of course, it's a bit stereotypical way to use these characters, but they make it work because, again, casting is very strong here and all three women shine in their roles. Things are obviously not what they seem and the 'twist', if it can be called that, is relatively easy to figure out. But that didn't stop my enjoyment of the film. If there's one thing I can say, however, is that the first half of the movie is more energetic and fun than the second half. It's never a bad movie, by any means, but I felt that they just ran out of steam the longer they went. This is a relatively short movie and I don't wanna say that there's not enough material to justify its length, it's just that they didn't figure out a way to find something else for the characters to do that wasn't centered on their quest for revenge. There's a bit of a subplot involving the ladies becoming romantically involved with Garrett, even though Jennifer's really the one for him, so to speak. But, other than that, the movie is really just concerned about the quest for revenge and, to me, it gets to be a little bit too one-note for me. Not that they keep repeating the same joke over and over, but they keep repeating the same story beats. Find a suspect, kill him, move on to the next, so on and so forth. It gets a little repetitive after a while. Again, not bad, but just a little redundant. This is where the movie falters, in my opinion, though I do understand maintaining some sort of narrative focus, I felt that so much more could have been done with these characters that the movie just didn't do. Perhaps they didn't want to out of not wanting to step out of its comfort zone, who knows??? But I still felt that the movie slowed down a little bit. I'd still say I enjoyed it, to be sure, but there's clear flaws here. But the fact of the matter is that this is a lovingly-made, entertaining tribute to a couple of classics in the genre. You can tell that they really tried to craft an entertaining flick out of, somewhat, derivative concepts. I felt they succeeded for the most part. The cast is clearly game for the silliness on display here (though they guy who played Garrett was a little bland) and the horror is fun. I can't say I would give this a glowing recommendation, since I don't think this is gonna appeal to anyone but "real" horror fans, but I enjoyed myself and that's all that matters in the long run, regardless of what anyone else may think.
User Review - 4/10 by William James SThis film starts out pretty well. It's dark and funny and fairly well acted. Unfortunately the director seems to loose intention and the movie just becomes silly, unfocused and very gory and gruesome. It's a shame, really because it did have potential.
User Review - 2/10 by Lee MIdeas borrowed from many other places, and executed poorly. It had a couple of funny bits, but was mostly a miss.
