Leave your thoughts about Paradise Lost 3: Purgatory.
Washington PostHank StueverParadise Lost 3 is perhaps the most interesting and well-made film of the trilogy.
What CultureShaun MunroThis third film, an inarguably powerful knockout punch, reminds us of the documentary film's power to change people's lives.
Ozus' World Movie ReviewsDennis SchwartzTells us clearly something is rotten about the American judicial system.
New York Magazine/VultureMatt Zoller SeitzIn the shadow of such sickness, all the personal dramas can't help but pale, but there are still surprising and powerful moments.
Moveable FestStephen SaitoByers' transformation into one of the trio's most passionate defenders is an intriguing metaphor for the entire series, not only remarkable in how the pendulum has swung, but also troubling since it redirects anger in a way it still could be misplaced.
The Coast (Halifax, Nova Scotia)Tara ThorneMetallica aside - Berlinger also directed Some Kind of Monster - Purgatory is beautifully framed, critical but not judgmental of the law enforcement official... and even-handed with the jailed men who are somehow not bitter or beaten by their ordeal.
Village VoiceMichael AtkinsonThe new film is more informational than resonant. But you can still sense a vacuum, a rat pit of stories waiting to be unearthed. The dark something that triggered the whole ordeal in West Memphis is still out there.
Cinemaphile.orgDavid KeyesSeldom has a film inspired so much dislike in viewers towards the very system designed to protect them.
Film Freak CentralBill ChambersMore a glorified DVD supplement than a documentary.
User Reviewnicole mEveryone should watch and learn from this documentary - aswell as the thin blue line, this is not only just a documentary but also very important in helping get justice for men who have been wronged by the US judicial system. Sometimes this is hard to watch (as were the first 2 documentarys) however it is something that needs to be seen to really understand the horrific events of this story. The end of the documentary is not, in real life, the end of this story and I will be watching out for what will happen next for all the people involved.
